I'm Dave from Oregon WI. Short testimony:

After getting out of the Navy in 1975, I became a chronic alcoholic. The Lord helped me to find sobriety via AA in 1982, and then led me to watch the 700 Club with Pat Robertson. That same year I prayed a "sinner's prayer" with Mr. Robertson, and asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I grew up Roman Catholic, so one of my favorite verses is Eph 2:8-9, which helped me to understand it's all about faith and grace, not works. Luke 4:18/Isaiah 61:1 is also a favorite: "...to set at liberty they that are bruised..."; I was one bruised 'fella.

I am retired from the Wisconsin Dept of Transportation (technology and computing), and currently working part-time for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA in Madison WI.

My primary reason for registering with a Christian forum is to seek advice on an e-reader device, e.g. Kindle, etc, to be used as an electronic bible and concordance. I noticed your forum has a technology section.

Blessings,
Dave

Welcome to CF. :waving
I'm personally holding off on such a purchase since they are moving into being more than just an e-reader, with internet and additional options...and the prices are dropping exponentially. Even if you still go for just an e-reader, the price will be maybe a third of what it is now, imo.

I have an iPhone with an app with about 15 versions of the Bible on it (including Aramaic etc.) I'm still a paper and pencil type of person, so I am not missing moving towards electronic reading... (but I proof for the Gutenberg Project and need to be able to use formatting etc on any e-reader I buy. The first ones didn't have that.)

Ok I rambled. Sorry 'bout that. Hope you find what you need in the tech forum!
