Is it possible to change the password for your account to keep the hacker from getting back on?

Seems Angel was able to get in changing password is my only thought...

Virus clean your computer. You may be infested with a keylogger.

Change your password to a strong one, at least 8 characters, lower and uppercase, numbers etc.

I have found that using phrases that contain both numbers and letters are strong and easy to remember.

For example:

WorldWar3LittlePigs........World War 3 Little Pigs

Igot2tickets2Paradise.........I got 2 tickets 2 Paradise

1istheloneliestNumber...........1 is the loneliest Number

4and20BlackbirdsbakedinaPie...........4 and 20 Blackbirds baked in a Pie

Singasongof6pence.........Sing a song of 6 Pence

Just a thought.
.

I changed the password. It was weird. I kept changing the password and then the password would work once and then not at all. So I don't know if Ill be able to log back in but at least you all know why. :(

ok it seems to be working now

Could this have been related to that strange bunch of nuns that conducted that weird trolling attack on us the other night??? Any chance this is affecting other members? Or was it something in Angel's computer?

Glad you got it fixed Angel.

LOL. Yeah, we had nine or ten nuns all register at once in the middle of the night (US time) and start flooding the forum with a bunch of trolling type comments. Some of them were pretty funny to read. :biggrin2 Other comments were obviously designed to get a reaction out of members. :poke I don't know much about how these things work, but it happened so fast with so many of them I couldn't help but be suspicious if they were up to something else that was hidden. It seemed like a lot of effort just to post a bunch of strange comments.

All their posts had been deleted before I managed to see them. As for the passwords, I know one good method of making really strong passwords that are very hard to guess. Think of a series of words that you can remember. It can be a sentence, Bible verse, part of a poem or anything else, as long as you can remember it. Take the first letter of each word, capitalize at least one of them, change some to similar symbols ("o" becomes zero, "i" becomes "1" or "!", "s" beomes "$", etc.), then use that series of letters as you password. Using this method, the sentence "From now on, I will only use strong passwords" could become "Fno1w0u$p" or some variation of that. It would be meaningful to the one using it, but nobody else would guess it.

I have seen another Christian messageboard get attacked with a bunch of porn.It was about three posters and some of the pictures were horrible. They got them off quickly.

That's good advice. That's exactly what I do, i.e. I use letters, numbers in a phrase I can remember, and BTW NEVER quote openly.

Another poster mentioned a key logger and malware. While malware can be the issue with some computers, more than likely the passcode was just cracked, because it was simple, or by an automatic generation program. My wife's email account was hacked and sent out messages in her name and then she used a stronger password -- had nothing to do with malware or our computers here at home.

So to all, take a lesson here. Use strong passwords and not something like christianforums1 or 123456 or asdfzxcv or something with an obvious pattern.
