Happy Hanukkah!
The Festival of Lights!

.
Is there a reason two of the lights aren't lit? Did Syria threaten them for too much celebration such as after a touchdown, or are they attempting to save the atmosphere from climate change which overall could be worse than ISIS? :shrug

They start with the central candle and then light one a day for eight days, representing the eight days the candle stayed lit until new oil could be made.
You've got to read the story, it's a great story.

Days,6

When the Greeks entered the Temple they defiled all the oils and when the Hasmoneans prevailed and defeated them, they searched and found only one cruse of oil which lay with the seal of Kohen Gadol.
It contained only enough oil to last one day, yet a miracle happened and they used it to light for 8 days.

That's the Hanukkiah at the Wailing Wall. I look at the Kotel cam every night. On the first night of Hanukkah, I went to bed about 10PM. It was 5AM over in Israel, but still dark, but more people were starting to come onto the plaza (but there's always some people there all hours). I saw this Jewish man come up to it. Look around at it for awhile, then climb those little steps. Then at first he was on one side of the Menorah, then the other, and I started asking myself, "What's he doing?" Finally he stood at the unlighted end and another Jewish man came into view and he took a picture of him with it. Oh! That's what was going on! Say cheese! :lol

As a matter of fact, I went on the cam again just now thinking that all of the lamps would be lit for the last day. They are, but that same Jewish guy (I think) is working on one of the lamps seemed to have problems with it. LOL.
