Heb.9 & Lev.16

In Heb.9, Paul refers to the Day of Atonement in the OT, where Jesus is symbolically represented as the sacrifices.

In Heb.5:6, Paul cited Psa110:4, where an eternal King and High Priest named Melchizedek is symbolic of Jesus.

God is much different from the idols that godless people tried to appease with animal and human blood sacrifices.

Our God ordered these sacrifices because they represent himself. Through his Son, they show the patient way Jesus endured excruciating pain inflicted on him by people who should have honored him. Bearing slander and dispicable treatment, our dear Lord have every right to bring sinners into judgement. By law, those who conspired against Jesus should have faced the death penalty (Deu.19.)

In Lev.16, the blood of the goat that is killed represents the Spirt of Christ, the love he showed to people who hated him.

The living goat is the resurrected Christ that sinners confess their sins to.

The living goat is then sent with an able bodied person into the wilderness bearing the sins of people. It's a picture of how believers walk with Jesus in this world and by him, we continue to bear sin by loving our enemies as our Lord taught.
