Great movie. It would appeal to those that liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It didn't have some of the silliness of that movie though.

The movie was brough to the states by Quentin Tarantino. It tells the story of a warrior who fought three assassins to kill the Qin emperor. Great story along with beautiful imagery.

that film is based on eastern mystisism and eastern religion.

I agree that this is a great movie. The visuals were absolutely fantastic--perhaps the best I have ever seen. Each scene is beautifully designed, with each fight focusing on the background in which it takes place, and not simply the fighters. From water droplets, to leaves, to green draperies, the backdrop takes on a life of its own. Even without the subtitles, I could sit down and enjoy this film just for the beauty of the cinemetography.

And as far as the story goes, I was actually pleasantly surprised. The format of the movie has a king talking with a warrior who has killed three would-be assassins. The killing of each of these assassins is explored through the use of flashbacks. However, there are three sets of flashbacks for each assassin, each with different details, implications, and color schemes. Each flashback is intriguing in its own right, and the assassins are actually more interesting characters than the warrior who killed them.

I thought this movie was ridiculous. The fight scenes I thought were really terrible. Way to unrealistic for me. So much so that I just thought this movie was a bit cheezy for my liking. I think my wife and I laughed a lot through this film just at how ridiculous it was.

I'm sure it doesn't float everyone's boat... those who go in needing realistic fighting won't appreciate it. I haven't seen it yet, but the radio host I listen to in the mornings loved it.

I saw it. I liked Crouching Tiger better. The reason I liked Hero is that it is SO different from typical Hollywood movies. Lots of art, use of colors, etc. There were a few times where I wanted to bust up laughing, though - the scenes were WAY too corny.

I saw it when it first came out on DVD. It was interesting and somewhat intruiging. I still liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon better.

I'd also heard some theories about the hidden agenda behind the movie. Some people believe it to be propaganda for Chinese unification.

I thought it was fun and entertaining. I liked the screaming at random times, it made me laugh.
