I am just curious if anyone out there has set up, or is setting up, a home gym.

I already have a free-weight bench that goes from decline to full upright for shoulder press, an EZ curl bar (standard home plate styles, not Olympic), 6' straight bar, dumbbell bars, fixed dumbbells from 5lbs-45lbs, and a Precor elliptical.

Now I am in need of something with cables that the wife can use as well. Does anyone have any suggestions on a home gym that will let me do pull-downs, cable rows, bi's and tri's, some leg movements, etc., on a fairly compact home gym?

I haven't heard many good things about Bowflex, although some people like them. A functional trainer would be good but my space is now very limited. Something like this would do the trick: http://www.fitnessdepot.ca/shop/stores/1/Torque-Fitness-Q3-P840C13.aspx

I guess I just want to know what people have and what they think about it.

Total gym.

Every piece of furniture in chuck Norris' house is a total gym.

That's a huge piece,lol.

I finished the p90x program a short while back. It's a very motivational dvd series that really works, but it requires atleast an hour a day.

I didn't like the kempo dvd in it though.

Nice! I was going to get P90X but with rotator cuff issues I figured it would be a bit much. We ended up getting Beachbody's 10 minute video series which the wife uses. One day I really would like to get P90X; it looks pretty intense.

Yeah, that piece is rather large but it all folds up and the doors (where the pulleys are) fold closed, so it looks quite nice and tidy in the corner. When it is all unfolded, it takes up most of my workout space so it gets a little tight. But they made it really easy to lift the bench up and out of the way.
