Regarding how we are to look and what appearance is most godly, a man at a church event recently preached that circumcision is a symbol of covenant and holiness. My husband is not circumcised (but our sons are) and I thought maybe I should ask the visiting preacher does he mean that my husband should become circumcised to be most holy? I get it that Jesus was circumcised and I personally asked that our sons be also circumcised when they were born (I think it best). I hope I didn't hurt my husband's feelings though about it but our kids were born here in the US and it is custom here and I felt it best for them. In the Bible, I know that circumcision was established as a covenant between God and Abraham in Genesis 17:10-14, where God commands that every male among His people be circumcised as a sign of their dedication to Him. This act symbolizes spiritual purity and obedience, right? In Romans 2:29, Paul spoke of circumcision of the heart, but the physical practice remained significant in Jewish tradition and was even observed by Jesus (Luke 2:21), right? So, beyond its spiritual meaning, many think (including me) circumcision can also be seen as enhancing the appearance of the male body , aligning with the biblical principle that God's design is good (Genesis 1:31) and clean, that refinement and consecration bring even greater beauty. Many find a circumcised appearance more aesthetically pleasing, reflecting cleanliness, order, and divine intention, -a body prepared as a living sacrifice even.
