I have two images, both with white backgrounds & I want them to overlap each other without the background covering the other image (if you know what I mean?). The only graphics programs I am familiar with are corel draw & paint, can anyone tell me how to do this?

Use Gimp

You can always try to use a program called Gimp. If you learn how to make layers you can do all sorts of things.

There is a program called photomatix that does this and does it well..

I've never heard of it. Did you try Gimp, or do you just use photomatix.

Wow, that looks really neat. Gimp can do the same thing, but I wonder if it's easier just to use photomatix instead I'll look into it.
