As I Christian, I have difficulty understanding the typically hostile response of conservatives towards discussions of global warming and environmental degradation in general. The Bible begins with the story of Creation; the creation of a world for us, a gift from God. If we are truly grateful to God for what He has given us, why do we so vehemently deny the necessity of protecting this Earth?

When God created the earth he gave Adam and Eve charge over the earth, he wanted them to take care of it. It is our duty to take care of the earth reduce pollution ect. However don't go overboard and become a greeny. God gave us this planet to use, and not to set up on a glass shelf so it won't break.

It's quite simple, clean up after yourself, if you cut down a tree, plant a new one. Try not to litter, and be as unpolluting as you can be. I'd rather not end up eating sludge for my meals!

Using our resources does not mean we have to rip materials out of a hole in the ground, reifine and alter them, produce something from them, use it, then shove it back into a different and far more fowl smelling hole in the ground. Look up the concept called 'Cradle to Cradle.' It's a rather interesting and very promising approach to design and industry, if it gets taken up by people. Living comfortably does not require the destruction of nature. Nature itself has shown us this.
