Salvation should never be abused or mistreated.
Unfortunately, by some Christians, it often is..
They abuse Salvation constantly by not giving it alone complete credit for saving them AND keeping them saved.
They abuse and diminish Salvation by adding to it their works and their commandment keeping, instead of crediting Salvation alone with what it has already accomplished based on the One who bled and died for them to have it as an eternal free gift.
They do "despite to the Spirit of Grace" by continually refusing to allow Jesus and Jesus alone the full credit for saving them and keeping them saved.
They "sin willfully" and "trod underfoot the very blood of Christ the Redeemer" by adding to the finished Work of Redemption their self righteous good works.
They abuse and disrespect Jesus's finished work on the Cross by their trusting in their faith to keep them saved instead of Giving Full Credit do the Blood Atonement all the respect it deserves for it being ALONE all that can eternally redeem and eternally administer and secure their eternal life.

Romans 4:5
Romans 5:8
Hebrews 10:12
Galatians 2:20,21
1 John 5:13

When the blood atonement is applied to a believer, this creates in them a "born again" spirit, and it completely cleanses them from sin...(washed in the blood of the Lamb).
Paul says..."Jesus who loved me and GAVE HIMSELF for me".... is the same situation for all believers.
In that very instant of "conversion" we are converted from "sinner" to Saith.
WE are converted from Lost to Saved.
WE are converted from unsaved human to spiritually born again Son of God.
WE are converted ("translated from") darkness to the Kingdom of light.
WE are converted from sinner to Sinless.
All this and more is what happens to all believers the very instant you hear the Gospel, trust Christ, and are born again.

which is it .. how can it be sinless in one post and willfully sin in another

Here's the one who is abusing Salvation, and sinning willfully....The one who violates these two Scripture, the very Word of God.
1st verse - 1John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."

2nd verse -Philippians 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
