Hunger Guaranteed By Unrighteousness

Many in the secular world consider the christian religion as an ineffective solution against world hunger. The false premise is that the Christians themselves are the sole remedy for all the world's problems in the same way that many consider government is the only solution for man's inability to care for itself. While the secular world awaits for Christians to rise up 'en masse' to rid humanity of its deficiencies it would be beneficial to see what the bible says on the matter.

First the bible says that the righteous shall never go hungry.

Proverbs 10:3
New International Version (NIV)
3 The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

Second, what is defined as righteous?

To determine the minimum requirement of righteousness, to evoke the blessings of not going hungry as promised in Proverbs 10:3, we need to look to Jesus Christ. Anytime anyone followed Jesus Christ he would feed them. Consider what Jesus Christ did in Matthew 14: 13-18 when he fed five thousand and again in Matthew 15: 29-39 when he fed four thousand. In both cases righteousness is shown to be simply following Jesus Christ. When we seek out Jesus Christ in our hearts, and by going to Church, we are considered righteous by God and he will honor Proverbs 10:3 and not allow us to go hungry.

This fact alone, that following Jesus Christ evokes the blessings of Proverbs 10:3, should be the answer to any question concerning hunger in the world. God did not say that believers will be responsible to rid the world of hunger but it is the responsibility of the individual to become righteous by following Jesus Christ that will release God's promise of not going hungry.

It is clear that a faith and belief in God's son Jesus Christ (God become man) will bring about the blessings of a life without hunger. Consider any christian nation. It is criticized for its abundance of food by the secular world. Whenever Jesus Christ fed the multitudes that followed him there was plenty of food left over, which only confirmed that the food was provided by God himself to all the righteous as promised in Proverbs 10:3.

So if you are fearful of going hungry, or fret about others going hungry, the only response is to follow and believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A belief in Jesus Christ will not only grant one a life on earth without hunger but an everlasting life in heaven after death with him as well!

God Bless

Matthew 14:13-18
New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.â€
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.â€
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,†they answered.
18 “Bring them here to me,†he said.

And........

Matthew 15:29-39
New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
29 Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.
32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.â€
33 His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?â€
34 “How many loaves do you have?†Jesus asked.
“Seven,†they replied, “and a few small fish.â€
35 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37 They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 38 The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.

Matthew 16:9-10
New International Version (NIV)
9 Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? 10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
