St. Augustine, America's oldest city, has been hit the hardest by this hurricane.
Reports in that sea water is just racing down the streets and getting into just everything.
Flagler College, the heart of St. Augustine, has reported sea water running through the hallways of one of their buildings.
My granddaughter and her husband live and work in St. Augustine.
They wonder if their home is under water or not.
They escaped the city and are with family in Tampa.

Here is Flagler College

They are in my prayers, hope everything will be okay..
They are getting it pretty hard down there..
I also heard that it is suppose to make a U turn, that is wild.
Everyone that is effected , keep safe and try nothing stupid, like surfing, or trying to cross flooded streets.

I know of it but as far how bad I don't know.you blog and I go wade it the water rescuing them
I would have thought that the oldest city in the country would have built itself hurricane proof, but I guess not.

Why woukd you think that? The oldest builders didn't know much about storm prevention.building in swamps, marshes and muck and thinking that it's flood proof is ignoring reality

I understand your difficulty in understanding reality.
But being the oldest city and being on the coast, they have had ample opportunity to build sea walls etc.. as well as preventing new scructures within striking range of storms.
The city is living proof of greed and lack of concern for human life.

Look what happened to New Orleans..
You get so much rain, it has to go somewhere..
I believe that was what the tower of Babel was all about after the flood.
Not much we can do about tornadoes either, except underground shelters.
Seawalls can help, but sometimes, it just doesn't hold..

I lived in Florida for-~a year and...it wasn't the hurricanes that drove me out but finding a scorpion in my bed one night when I flung back the covers to check....water bugs as big as mice...plus it's well known that Florida is a cracker floating on the water...it will go under one of these days...I hadda move...I'll pray for you guys though!

Sea walls are bad ,they destroy marine life and reefs and you forget that we'll that they don't know that .

A lot of what is built on may not have been original to st augustine. The old section is very small and built on high ground. Where it's flooding isnt.the oceanic created sand ridge is where that Flagler hotel is and other old parts.I would know about st Francis barracks .the newer stuff is where im.talking about they didn't drain land much then. They did layer

Try living on the outer banks of N.C, my daughter did for awhile when her husband was stationed there, Coast Guard..
Nothing but a little sand bar as wide as the road, for miles, dividing the sound from the ocean.
When they just had a thunder storm the road flooded, bulldozers were always left there.
Glad she is out of there...

I hope the Fountain of Youth is okay.
We need that.

Well, it's Saturday evening and I still can't contact my sister or my niece down in Melbourne, Florida.
I guess they are still both without power, maybe without a way to be together.
They both have cell phones that probably need to be charged.
I can't imagine what my granddaughter plans to do to get to her house in St. Augustine.
My stepson lost power in Savannah, Georgia but is able to stay with my granddaughter who is nearby him but didn't lose power.
Lots of stuff up in the air right now.
