I may be wrong, but I don't think that they should go to jail behind this.

Jail for 9 of 10 ex-educators in Atlanta test-cheating case

Seven years in prison for three former Atlanta educators

7 years is a lot, but teachers have to be held to a high standard. In the article it mentioned something about threatening to retaliate anyone that reported them. I'm not sure if they are talking about this case or not, but that is bad.

I think only 3 regional directors at the top were given 7 yrs. The judge made an interesting statement that I think gives a clue as to why.
"These sentences will send shockwaves through the world of education," he said, adding that he believes it will be nearly impossible going forward for an administrator to pressure a teacher to cheat."

if the teacher can cheat, so can the students.

That would be how most of the kids would see it. What an example!
In some cases I wonder if the kids even knew their answers had been changed.

I totally agree with the Judge. The people robbed and corkscrewed into the mud of inescapable doom or constant struggle to keep a job that will condemn them into constant poverty. And they had the gall to threaten honest teachers?

After reading some of the details and considering the "make example of" factor, probably a good idea they do go to jail. They won't do a full 7yrs...right?

There are so many out there that don't seem to get the punishment they deserve because there isn't money enough in the system, but in my view, this is an expense worth the tax payers money..

My biggest problem, after the lying, is that those kids and their parents are not getting a true report as to what their children have learned. So they go take a college entrance exam and fail because their weaknesses were not caught and dealt with while they were in school. Talk about being discouraging to both the parents and the kids.
