My dog has nipped me a few times over the years. Never serious but still.
He growled last time though. I think he got confused. He thought he was in a fight or flight situation.
But usually he is warm and affectionate. Just on odd occasions, he seems to withdraw to a wild instinctive state.
I totally forgive him though. How nice if I can act the same towards human beings.

Of course you can. :smile
I never suggest to others that it should be easy for them to forgive.
But I did say to my brother once "we need to make peace with everyone before we die. We can't spend our last hours resentful or angry towards anyone." We need to let go of pain.

I agree and although it may not be easy it is possible and doable.

Yes you can forgive.
If we repent God forgives so we should forgive if the person who abuses us genuinely repents.

I can forgive someone because I know if they knew better they wouldn't do it . I think some people are complete idiots.

I am motivated by people who show forgiveness for awful treatment or even worse.
There was a nurse who was raped and killed by a gang of 5 young men. The father was obviously grieved and bitter at first. But gradually he was able to achieve a forgiveness. Remarkable. He then started a support group for parents who lost their children to homicides.
I've heard it said that we forgive for our own sake. So it doesn't become a burden we carry around. We forgive in order to survive.

It is true that you no longer carry the burden but I think different reasons. The best reason is love.

I feel Tessa's prey in this thread. She's circling like an evengelical shark. ?

Are you watching tv?

I don't watch much TV, I don't watch the news. I listen to talk radio because I like open discussion where people don't get censored for there opinions and it keeps me up to date.

Re forgiveness
We can't do it on our own. That's why we fail to forgive. Only God in us can forgive. Grace.
