If you want to be a strong, faith-filled Christian...

Is the fence the world's version of the narrow road? You really gotta balance on that thing.

I wrote on the frontnof my bible that verse from James. "A man that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed" and "a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Though Christians waver, with God for us, we are as weebles.

If Paul wrote the scriptures today, he would say. Maybe...

Here is a worthy saying: weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.

... pray in the Spirit

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, Jude 20

Building yourself up...on your most holy faith,

That won't do any good if you're watching movies rated R (for sexuality), constantly thinking how to make more money....to pay for all the stuff you bought, etc. etc. etc......

"Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." (James 4:8 NASB)

In my walk with the Lord, this is what I'm led to do by the Spirit.

I have noticed the more I do this, the more I have a desire for the things of righteousness.

This is the work of obeying the word that says...if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13

Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. John 12:24 KJV

Look at the process. From death comes life. But notice, something has to die. You are not new until you are dead (I am not talking about a physical death). Many Christians want a new marriage, new finances, a new relationship, a new house, a new car, or etc. The bible tells us how to get the new. You are not new until you are dead.

So why is death necessary? 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 ERV says God gives us opportunities to die with our problems daily so we can bring something new. We are always being delivered to death because there are things in your life and mine that needs to die for you and I to become effective. There are things in my life and your life that have to die for the life of Jesus to be seen. So the reality of God's presence is based on your death. Until the five senses die they will be more real to a Christian than God.

What about TV in general? Phil 4:8. Sexual innuendos on kids shows, katy perry on sesame st., ellen degeneres promoting niki manaj (manaj meaning orgy) to 7 year olds. Tv puts your mind in an alpha state (relaxation, suggestability), in that way they channel you and program your mind.

Luke 9:23;
Then he said to them all:
"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me".
Do we understand what this means?
And do we do it?

If the movie has a lot of that in it, I tend to think, must not be much of a flick if they have to depend on sex to sell the movie. If the movie seems like it might be pretty good, I just use the Fast Forward button on those scenes. Baby/bathwater.

That could change as I grow.

Problem is you have to see it first to fast forward through it. I found you can type in <movie name> IMDB parents guide in a search engine and find out ahead of time how explicit the scenes are in a movie or cable show before you turn it on.

Yeah, your right and this has been a concern to me so, having given it a little thought, I figure I've seen so much of that junk that as soon as it comes up, I can get past it and it'll have no affect on me whatsoever. Even if a set of breasts were thrown out there so fast, I couldn't avoid them, if they have no affect on me and I just ff by it, no sin.

As I see it, the sin is what you do in your mind with it, or worse. If we can pretty well ignore it, no sin. But if the movie is made up of a lot of that stuff, what other junk is going to be in it...a few things to consider and I suppose it can get so bad that it's not even worth watching past it all..

That Parent Guide sound like a tool worth looking into....thanks
