I always wonder how the end times are going to come about and how the Antichrist is going to get world control. There must be organizations involved in planning for a one world government. Look what happened with the swine flu thing. And the economic meltdown. It is scary how world bodies started controlling things and as individuals we had no say. Scary. yes. We are just fortunate that we have Gods Word to keep us on the right track. We were warned from the mouth of Jesus in Matthew 24 vs 4 (NIV) "Jesus answered: 'Watch out that no one deceives you'." This was answering a question about the end times. The answer is to study the Bible and not allow anyone to lead you by taking the scripture out of context. If something sounds a bit off pray about it and read scripture. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. My personal belief is yes there is something sinister and we should be "watching out" that no one decieves us. A lot is just conspiracy theories and no notice should be taken of them. The muslims gave it up but they are not the rightful owners.
It is written that the land was to be given to Abraham and his seed.

Greetings "Ed the Ned": I appreciate that you are concerned with the context in which verses are found. That is a sound principle of sound Bible study. Considering the context of Matthew 24, then, why do you believe that Jesus is addressing us in verse 4? The context of this passage involves Jesus and His disciples right there with Him. It was to them that He said "Take heed that no one deceives YOU." This direct address continues when He warns THEM that THEY will be killed, and persecuted and hated for His name's sake! THEY were to see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet. Since they saw it in their day, why do many teach that it is for our day? That is taking something out of context and deceiving people.

Shouldn't we also be careful not to be deceived? Of course. But Jesus' words in Matthew 24 were first of all directed at those disciples with Him who questioned Him. We must first look at this passage according to what His words meant to them before we can make proper application to ourselves. Yes, the answer is Bible study--but proper Bible study. Unfortunately, much of what is portrayed as Bible study today is far from Bible study.
