IMAGINATION
Gen 6:5 OLD TESTAMENT
5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gen 8:21
21 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
1 Chr 28:9
9 "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.
Jer 7:24
24 "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.
Jer 9:14
14 "but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them,"
Jer 16:12
12 'And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one follows the dictates of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me.
Isa 65:2
2 I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, according to their own thoughts;
NEW TESTAMENT
Luke 1:51
51 He has shown strength with His arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
2 Cor 10:4-5
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Rom 1:21-22
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
Heb 4:2
2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13
13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Acts 2:17
17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.
Matt 17:1-9
1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;
2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid."
8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead."
Acts 11:1-18
1 Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him,
3 saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!"
4 But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:
5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.
6 "When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
7 "And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.'
8 "But I said, 'Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.'
9 "But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.'
10 "Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 "At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.
12 "Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
13 "And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, 'Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,
14 'who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.'
15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
16 "Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
17 "If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"
18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
Acts 10:1-17
1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.
3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius!"
4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.
5 "Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.
6 "He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do."
7 And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually.
8 So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.
9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance
11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.
12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
13 And a voice came to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."
14 But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean."
15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed you must not call common."
16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.
17 Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate.

XXX It is hard to know the difference between a spiritual vision, and the imagination. It is hard to separate in the mind dreams from the imagination. Rev 22:18-19
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Rom 15:18-19
18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient--
19 in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

All except you?

Satan quotes verses as well.
Satan only quotes old testament.

[Mat 4:5-7 NKJV] Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you,' and, 'In [their] hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.' " Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' "

He cant prove it.

Satan quotes scripture daily, look at a the false teachers in the world quoting and teaching the Bible.
Do ever have anyone check your replies? We are talking about what is in the new testament. And your away out there. Dont think beyond what is written.

[1Co 4:6

Well if you know the Holy Spirit He will show you. We know he quoted to Jesus. But there is no where else in the new testament that he quoted to anyone else. That is proof.

No it isn't proof. It's your opinion.
You seem to have a problem distinguishing your opinions from facts.
You can have whatever opinions you like - such as the moon is made from cheese or Satan only speaks in OT verses.
But to claim them as facts you need to provide evidence.

I claim Satan quotes verses and I proved it (in another thread) by referencing Mt 4:6

But you have no proof that Satan only quotes OT verses or that the Holy Spirit only quotes NT verses.
Until you provide proof then they are just your opinions.

LABrown said: Satan only quotes old testament.
Your statement is false and I corrected it.

I think that our imagination is probably one of our spiritual senses.

Dont think beyond what is written.

But we have to. This happens when we meditate upon God's word. Each verse in scripture has (at least) two meanings. The is an immediately obvious meaning and context based on what is written, and then we are to read it again from the spirit without any intellect at all while we meditate upon His word looking for the spiritual precept and how it applies to our life that it contains. The Holy Spirit will make you think beyond what is written.

Imagination is not inherently evil or good but is dependant upon the condition of ones heart I think.

Everyone uses imagination but few understand it.
A carpenter wants to make a chair from wood. First he goes to his imagination, and strps through into the spiritual realm. Then he receives a picture of the chair and he then returns to the material world with the picture, and builds the chair.

Imagination is important because it lets you see things before they exist. Lord give me a sanctified imagination. I don't think it's very complicated. There's just confusion because hardly anyone has a clue so different opinions get thrown around.
That was my opinion, Lol.

You seem to get confused easily. My claim was satan does not quote new testament. but he does quote old testament.

XXX It is hard to know the difference between a spiritual vision, and the imagination. It is hard to separate in the mind dreams from the imagination.
For those who are habitually embracing comforting deception, likely. For those who have trained their minds and spirits on the Word of God and know how to discern truth from lies, it is not at all difficult. The Enemy always uses the same appeal.
And remember there is only one guaranteed message from God. And that is the Holy Spirit. Its a different world in the Spirit than what you have grown up with. You have grown up with imagine this or imagine that. And most have grown up thinking this is good, and the way to the truth. Even our most educated people carnally-- the minsa group says. There is no absolute in the english language.
Nonsense. There are absolutes in English same as all the other languages. Absolutes are independent of language by definition.
And everyone is useing the english language to find the absolute truth. But in the Spiritual language there are absolutes. The Holy Spirit is the only guaranteed message from God. And He only quotes verses. Any time one steps outside the rules of believing they are in their imagination. Anyone who thinks about studying the future before he has the presents down is deceived. Eschatology
Where does one being to point out the errors in the above? People are using other languages to find the absolute turret so that is not true. There are truths in the spiritual world and otherwise but truth is not particularly spiritual. The Holy Spirit is not limited to what the authors in the Bible have penned. He is not even limited to the language it was written in let alone other words. He is not stuck in the ancient world. If you ask the Holy Spirit about a computer, it isn't like He has no idea what you are talking about as that word does not appear in the ancient languages. Studying the future is impossible. What the Bible has to say about the future is possible.

I guess you read my thread on imagination. I am honored.
