The word believe in is various forms is used approximately 240 times in the New Testament. It is the word "pisteuo" with means to have faith in, upon, or with respect to a person or thing. This word is obviously extremely important as it is used so many times in the New Testament. What is this word? Is it something we do? Is it something we don't do? Is it an adjective? Is it a noun? I contend it is a verb. It is used in many different forms and the root is "peitho" Which is a verb. What is a verb? A verb is an action. It is something we do. The reason I am bringing this up is because of those that believe (an action) that our action of belief has nothing to do with our salvation. Rather that quoting every single scripture that has the word belief tied in with salvation I will mention just a few.
Mark 1:15
John 3:16-18
Acts 16:31
John 6:47

I could give more, but you get the point. Our action of belief is necessary for salvation. Now, before some get all bent out of shape, here, let me be as clear as I can be. Belief is in NO WAY the same thing as EARNING salvation. We did not earn salvation because we believed. Are you kidding? The belief in salvation is recognizing who Christ is and that He and He alone can save us. Belief is putting our trust and hope in HIM for salvation. Not on our actions or our deeds. To believe in salvation by Christ is first to believe that we cannot save ourselves. For all have sinned and fallen short. Do we really think that belief some how is an act whereby we earn salvation? God forbid! Belief is an act whereby we acknowlege our need for salvation and that Christ is the only one who can give it to us. So we believe in Him as our only saviour and place our lives and souls in His Almighty Hand. Belief is a necessary action for without belief there is no salvation for us.

AMEN.. believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is based upon mountains of evidence from the scriptures and from the Spirit of God who convinces of sin, righteousness and judgment.. AND Christ is that true light which lighteth every man that comes into the world..

Conviction comes from evidence.. and that's what faith is.. built upon the limitless evidence that Jesus is the Christ..

beliefs require actions, that is for sure

If you really believed a piano was going to fall on you, then you would move.

So they are at least teamates

"faith without works, is dead"

I like the word trust applied to define faith. We all must trust something yet with God it is profoundly important to our being whole. I would say every lie ever told at it's root is the spirit of distrust of God. I do believe trust is both a verb and a noun. The binding confidence between that which trusts and that which is trustworthy. So many actions happen if not all, are a trusting of some sort.
