After all the topics discussed here.....after all the back and forth between believers.....after all the discord that occurs.....after all name calling.....after all the 'scripture means this not that'.....after all the 'no I am right and you are wrong'......is it any wonder the unbelieving world holds us in such contempt?

As Paul said, The letter destroys but the Spirit gives life. People follow doctrine, they follow the letter.

Hello Civilwarbuff

its ironic because the world with all its corruption chaos and suffering is a direct result of the body of Christ

Jesus has given the body of Christ dominion and authority over the world and works of the devil and it is our responsibility to pray and fight in the spiritual realm on there behalf

we have be born again, water baptized, baptized in the Spirit and given the promises of Gods word to enforce and speak in the name of Jesus against the enemy, sickness, situations, and circumstances

the members in the body of Christ are responsible for the condition of the world because the enemy sin sickness and death have been defeated and we have been equipped with the solution and have all the tools to overcome any obstacle in peoples lives

we can point out all the things we dislike and disagree about in the kingdom of darkness we see around us

but we cant complain about it because we know the answer to the problem and don't do anything about it including my self

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9.10

Peace

I see what your saying, but it's just going to be that way. Otherwise, whoever has the best speech leads away - even if it's true or false.

We can discuss in love, but to lay aside sound doctrine - and let false doctrine go unchecked - wouldn't make us any better than the world. Sure, they might like us better. It might not be offensive to them.

I think threads like this are good though. We should keep each other in check.

What they laugh at is the simple fact that so many people in the church insist the scriptures don't really mean what they say. We Protestants, particularly, are good at formulating these popular 'not really' doctrines. The plain words of scripture are no longer the plain words of scripture. And we expect the world to respect that????

Just cant like your post... Agree yes but like nope...
Can we look forward to a 'resurrection' of love one to another on the Resurrection Day? As we ponder the love that sent Christ to the Cross in our place can we remember to show that love to one another showing the world we are His.. Joh_13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I have a sibling i need to show love too... not seeing him as lovable is not from God.. I need not point out his errors as i dont want him to point out mine.. the ol judge not least ye be judged thing..

In the Words of our Lord
Mar 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mar 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

nope not that one the one that would fit in here seamlessly ...

That sure sounds like a great idea, but it is defeatist talk. That's the sort of statement that would make people think to not try, because (la-la-la) one day the Lord will come change me into a proper being...No, Sister! Remember...on earth as it is in Heaven. We need to look forward to being able to do this...today.

Be ye Holy, even as I am Holy...doesn't say anything about resurrection day. It's a precept for today, now.

In the Words of our Lord
Mar 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mar 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

...and there's an excellent example which is warning us to do it now and not wait for resurrection day. :wink

We must stand upon our own spiritual feet. You bet it's hard, so it will require us to trust in the Lord that He will strengthen us that we be able to, cast down our pride I believe is what it amounts to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that pride must die before one can walk in Love towards God or His Brother.

I don't think that God will, "take our pride away"...it's something that we have to lay down.
