Hating is not desirable and right in God's eyes, but is it okay to hate the Devil?
Also, is it okay to fail right after prayer? For example, say that you pray that God will be with you in overcoming an addiction and the next day the cycle of addiction continues. Is this normal/okay?:confused

One of the ways Jesus describes salvation He uses the term born again....

When we are new in Him in some areas we can be like babies .... We have to learn... Babies are learning from day one....You would not expect a baby to behave as an adult.... Don't be to hard on your self just keep on trying God looks on our hearts...

( never mind that some adults can act like babies it doesn't fit into my story) :gah

My experience is that it's pretty common, and, no, it's not OK. But sin and weakness is part of our human condition. We do struggle.

I have a very close friend, one of the most talented musicians I've ever met and who genuinely wants to follow God's will. I frequently get him away from his home church to be our music director for the day, when I'm called on to preach. We rock the house, and the passion is magnificent. But...when he's alone and weak, he can't leave his drug addiction behind.

Too many people don't hate Satan, don't realize the power he has, don't reject his view of how the world should be. Most of those don't realize they are actually acquiescing to Satan and giving him permission to ruin their lives. That is because most don't even stop to think about whether or not Satan is real. He is. He rules this world, until such time as Jesus comes to enforce the deed He holds on this world and on the lives that have been given over to Him.
