2 Corinthians 1:21-22:
"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come".
OSAS

Now who can dispute that?
It's quite clear.
No twos ways about it.
"But what if"..., forget about it!
OSAS.

Stop trying to break us down into weaklings.
Our strength is in Christ.
Grab hold of him and don't let go.
OSAS

"But how about"..., forget about it.
If you can't explain away this verse, you've got nothing!
OSAS

Praise the Lord!
We're on our way to heaven!

allenwynne, allenwynne, allenwynne.....is this what you've been sulking about for months now, lol?

Everything you wrote above is true if you want to continue in Christ. He will not let you down. Your confidence will be well placed. But some people start out in faith but simply don't continue in it. I don't understand it, but the Bible does in fact talk about these people.

13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away." (Luke 8:13 NIV)

James 5
19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Sorry Jethro, what you say starts with a "but".
And buts don't count.

Actually, as a matter of fact, what I and the Bible say starts with an 'if'....

"if indeed you continue in the faith..." (Colossians 1:23 NASB)

In context we see he is talking to those who were formerly alienated and hostile in mind toward God, not unbelievers, not insincere 'not really saved believers', but real believers firmly established and steadfast in the hope of the gospel whom Paul exhorts to stay that way:

21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard..." (Colossians 1:21-23 NASB)

I like to tease you about Florida, but I'm not teasing on this one. How do we make these plain words of scripture go away? Why do we make these words go away? What's wrong with believing that you have to keep believing to the end to be saved in the end? Please help me understand the resistance to this plain and simple message in our Bibles.
