My kids have recently learned how to get on the internet. I have set a password for when you firt turn on the computer, but is there any way to make it require a password to surf the net? Are there any browsers that work this way? I currently use Avant browser.

I don't mind them playing on sites such as barbie or abc kids, but I do NOT want them on sites like Nickelodeon. They were playing a game on there yesterday and two cartoon characters started talking about french kissing.
THIS is why we don't have cable tv anymore....

covet eyes

Look in to the program called Covet Eyes. Its a christian internet program to control your computers. It can log every computer in your house and tell you where and how long the sites are visited. ITs specially made by christian companie, and list the stuff in order from CRUD- at the top, to all the good sites at the bottom.
Where ever your kids go the eyes will see and so will yours.

DO not let them on myspace/tagworld/xanga/facebook/you tube/break.com/ all are very easy places for pornographic material.

Here this should help

I can help you i know a bit about blocking computers.
Go to your tool bar like FILE-EDIT-VIEW (just your main tool bar- its says TOOLS.
Then go to internet options at the BOTTOM of the scroll.
GO click on the CONTENT TAB.
Their should be a C)ONTENT ADVISOR- CLick ENABLE
IT will ask you to set a password- make it hard.
Then click the settings next to it and it will show you all the bad
Ratings a site - has to show the computer. Such as Language, Nudity, Sex, Violence.
Then a slider is provided, click each one and set the slider to block it, Then you are good to go, try n go to some sites and see if it blocks it.

Also you will not keep them from learning that stuff to let you know. What they dont see online, tv, movies, they will learn at school. Unless you home school them their is no way of stopping the obscene language, sexual talk, kids will learn it either way. My parents scorned me and warned me of such drugs, sex, boys, dis obeying them. Well soon as i hit highschool I DID all that and more. It was mostly fun because it was forbidden. I did it out of rebellion though.

The settings in the internet browser will help. However, once children get older they learn multiple ways to get around settings. The best way to handle this is to get a good filter. You can learn more on my website at http://cybersafetyseminar

Your children are precious and well worth our efforts to protect them!
