People learn things from experience as they get older, hopefully.

Then they try to share what they’ve learned with younger people.

Younger people then have the choice of learning from older people or ignoring older people.

We are generally more comfortable with the thought that as people age they do become wiser. I daresay we all know adults who hardly act like adults, and it seems they've learned nothing in life.

But you are probably talking about Christian mentors who have become knowledgeable in Christ and wiser for their decisions in life, and do have that wealth of living experience that if a young person could listen, it would save a lot of grief in their life.

While I think of myself as being a pretty smart child, I in no way knew everything (still don't) and did not have the wisdom to truly understand all that I knew. The good thing was that I learned that I could learn from other's experiences and didn't have to experience some of the trials that others did. Or, if there were things beyond their control (accidents and the like) then to learn from their experience of that.

I'm amazed at how my own understanding seems to increase exponentially as I age. Of course, it could be just part of God's prophecy how knowledge would increase in the last days before the tribulation.

When we live righteous lives, we gain in wisdom. We come to understand why it is important to obey the Lord.

Of course, some people gain in wisdom more than others, and none of us know everything. Some old people are quite evil.

Some old people are quite evil.

That is a very accurate statement! Indeed though, many people are evil, even young. The Bible says that all our deeds are evil while we are in our sinful state. It is only Christ's redeeming work on the cross that allows us to live non-evil lives, imo.;)
