Jesus was able to raise people from the dead. Does that mean that followers of Jesus can do the same thing? I believe that the answer is “yes†- see http://www.worldends.co.uk/english/archive60.pdf. There are, however, a number of conditions. Firstly, people actually have to be following Jesus in order for the dead to be raised (ie. not following Paul for example). Following Jesus means that people have faith in Jesus, and with faith you can do anything (Matthew 17:20). Secondly, the risen people need to have a place to go, and that place is Heaven – an ideal Christian city based on New Jerusalem. Eventually, Jesus himself will be raised, and this is predicted to be three days after his crucifixion. But since a day is like 1000 years to God, this is predicted to be around 3000AD.
It will be essential for us to start constructing the ideal Christian society of New Jerusalem in the near future for various reasons, as is it is nearly the time of the end (2039). This will not be a city for those in the West, but for the poor – those who Jesus came to teach us about. There are 2.5 billion people living on less than $2 a day, and they certainly deserve to go to Heaven. So lets make sure they do.
