When Jesus speaks of love, is he telling us how to feel or how to treat others? I might ask: What good does it do if I feel love for you but treat you like garbage?

Maybe this is a clue:

[19] Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
[20] No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." Rom 12:19-20 RSV

Love is desire.

Biblical love is the desire for the well being of others. If your desire is for the well being of others you will not treat them like garbage.

10 Love does no harm to its neighbor." (Romans 13:10 NIV1984)

Desire can be just a decision of the will. In my experience, when you're genuinely plugged into God's Spirit love for others is often a joyful experience. But then there are those times when we are simply walking in the discipline of love with no feelings attached.

'i' find that True Love is a PRINCIPLE based on the Law that God Himself wrote. Noise, excitement & emotion, or even feeling's are not my understanding of True Love!

Case in point: Christ death was because of True Love, and He died feeling miserable. Even crying out to His Father as man, (second Adam) and thought that His Father had forsaken Him.

Your post might find some folk's thinking that we can read ones motives being Love or not? (which we know that only God can tell why one says & does what they do)

Love is deep compassion for others that causes us to act. Most of us have a tight group of people we love, but few have enough love that extends to help others. Seems we mostly love what loves us in return.
