Lord, bring us to the place where we learn to walk and abide with you. We need no other credentials for the ministry of the House of God apart from the anointing that comes down upon us from the garments of The High Priest in the heavens. He has been "anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows." When David prepared a new resting place for the Ark it wasn't in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness according to the word that was given to Moses by God. David was a Prophet, a King and a Priest. For the new resting place David did not choose the High Place in Gibeon. Burnt offerings were still being offered there upon the brazen altar, Priests of the Lord were still attending to its various functions and David did not make his choice lightly.
The Ark of the Covenant was not restored to the Holy of Holies of the old Tabernacle. God today wants to bring us to our 'first love' and is not in the least interested in restoring us to some 'old structure' of religion. A new tent was pitched on Mount Zion. Then the Ark was brought forth out of the house of Obededom with shouting and rejoicing. God was returning to His people! David 'danced before the Lord with all his might,' not in an attempt to bring back the Ark but because it was back. It wasn't the dance nor the shout and in vain is our attempt to restore the glory of God to His Temple with any such method. He danced before the Lord, clothed in the garments of a priest: a linen robe girded with a linen ephod. Then the Ark was brought into the Tent of David and set into the place that David had prepared.
God's order is first --> ... not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. [1 Corinthians 15:46 KJV] It is His plan to lead us from one to the other and in so doing neither is neglected, ignored nor destroyed. Will there ever come about true peace in God's earthly habitation (us)? Yes, but only when we come into this new way and put on this 'one new man' in Christ Jesus. We have the mind of Christ, and it was through the blood of Jesus, our Messiah, that God would "make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace." (See Eph. 2:10-19)

Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy. For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed. The LORD hath sworn [in] truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore. For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired [it] for his habitation.
[Psalm 132:9-18 KJV]This [is] my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
