I would not eat a big juicy hamburger while driving but I have munched on fries.

MARIETTA, Ga. – A man says enjoying a double quarter-pounder with cheese as he cruised down a highway outside Atlanta got him in trouble with the law — and a ticket for eating while driving.

Madison Turner of Alabama told WSB-TV that the officer told him three times: "You can't just go down the road eating a hamburger." He was ticketed for violating Georgia's distracted driving law; Turner said the officer told him he had been eating the McDonald's burger for about 2 miles.

The McDouble is better suited for eating while driving. If I know that I'm going to eat my McDonald's food while I'm driving I get a couple of those. But, truthfully, the double quarter pounder could probably be eaten with one hand while driving if you set it up right.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 70's that a Burger King Whopper could hardly be safely eaten with two hands sitting at a table, let alone while driving (absolutely unthinkable then). Something changed along the way and today you could probably eat one of those with one hand while driving.....except in Georgia of course, lol.

It probably is one of the most distracting things you can do while driving (well, I CAN think of at least one other thing..... :sohappy ), but I do it all the time. Uh..... "eating", that is.

so its a primary offense? okay then I will be getting lot of tickets then if florida did that. yet oddly in my state I cant be ticketed for not wearing a seat belt while working. its in the code that allows delivery drivers are exempted.

First off, that law is stupid. People should just have some doggone common sense- and laws aren't going to replace that!
Secondly, I don't know how someone can eat and drive. That makes me nauseous. And forget trying to drink (obviously non-alcoholic beverages) and drive, I'd wind up spilling my coffee everywhere!!

The law is not stupid. If you do not have 100% of your focus on your driving it could cause an accident.People are careless with very little common sense.Just check out the news.

Believe it or not, it's not that difficult to eat while driving. I've been doing it for years. The only thing that would make it hard is if you didn't know where your mouth was and I don't have that problem.

I guess one would fail a drivers licence if they drove with one hand on the stearing wheel while going for there licence. Safety is both hands on the wheel for control so i can understand if someone got a ticket for eating and driving.

That actually happened to me. :lol
