The article treats Marxism as if its a religion, instead of a framework for analysis. The shifting between "Marxism" and "Neo Marxism" shows that the article is trying to capture multiple schools of thought and bring them under a single umbrella.


Marxism is economically based and Neo Marxism is multiple ideas that range from people who reject multiple foundational parts of Marxist thought and replace them.

Also Marxism is opposed to liberalism and many of the ideas being touted as neo Marxist are liberal in nature and not Marxist. Marxism centers around class and looks at identity outside of that as liberal distractions to the key aspects of oppression.
