Matt. 25
[1] Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
[2] And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
[3] They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
[4] But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
[5] While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

One thing in this Parable is being likened to the Kingdom of heaven! These were ALL Virgins.
Meaning that they were none of the Rev. 17:1-5 gang.

[6] And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
[7] Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

A MIDNIGHT CRY! (not 70 AD!)
And note that in Rev. 12 there were 1/3 who followed satan. So perhaps we find our Lord winning back the small percentage from satans camp?

[8] And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
[9] But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
[10] And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

1 John 5:16-17 does indeed have the boundaries set for the sin unto DEATH!
As in Rev. 3:16-17 loveless (second place) of the Master.

[11] Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
[12] But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
[13] Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

So we can see that the Parable has a two/fold application. Lets note Old Israel with their extension of the Acts Church. In John 12 we SEE the Truth with John recording....
[42] Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
[43] For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

And in closing this out... WHO WAS NOW THIS EXTENDED CHURCH?

Does no one know whose Eph. 4:5 is talking of?? And the Rev. 12:17 ones who keep the Commands of God + (did you get this one?) the TESTIMONY of Jesus!

--Elijah

Here is the commandments of God, that we believe on His Son and love as He gave commandment. Those who teach law have denied the Cross and having fallen from grace. They do not keep the commandments of God, through faith working by love.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word.:-)

That is what we are being told?? Check out their many 'yoked' followers in Rev. 17:1-5 verses, and especially verse 5. And in case that is not caught?? See Matt. 6:24
[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Yes the same Apostle John who wrote the book of Revelation, wrote 1 John 3:23-24, which is confirmed thoughout the New Testament that all the law is fulfilled by faith working by love.

How does one serve the Law and the Lord?

The OT or the NT

Excellent question! Christ is the Law!:study
The two cannot be separated! Heb. 13
[20] Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

To have Christ, one MUST be a doer of His Words! James 2
[19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
[20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, [[that faith without works is dead?]]

So: It is not possible to be Justified in Christ without OBEYING Him. (for long that is.. 1 John 5:16)

Interesting to find a verse telling us about the law of God! 2 Cor. 3:4 has this penned this way...

[3] Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

And that goes right along with John. 1 John 2:3-8!

[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

[5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
[6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
[7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which [[ye have heard from the beginning.]]

How any could 'claim' to Love the Lord & not obey his 'Epistle' is not possible.

Matt 25:1 is a bad chapter break in the KJV. It misleads some. Matt 24 should carry to Matt 26.

Matt 25:1~~it should read "at that time" because it is Jesus carrying out a thought from the last verse of Matt 24. And the TIME Jesus is talking about is the time of His second coming.

In this parable, the 10 virgins are the friends of the bride who wait outside the groom's house until the groom brings the bride and the marriage party begins. These virgins are people alive at the 2nd Advent - 5 believers and 5 unbelievers. Their being 'virgins' represents free will/volition. Also see Revelation 19: 7-9.

Five is considered the number of grace in the bible. All 10 heard the gospel and 5 rejected it and 5 responded positively.

The 5 foolish ones had lamps(The gospel) but took no oil( a volitional decision of rejection of the gospel)

The 5 wise ones had lamps(the Gospel) and took oil(a volitional decision to accept the Gospel)

At the second advent (the coming of the Bridegroom) they lost patience and slept.

As He comes they are awakened by the shouts. They trimmed their own lamps( personal volition)

The foolish ones wanted the wise ones oil. Nope, we are responsible for our own decision. We cannot borrow someone else's salvation.

So when the Son of Man comes, He will say to all unbelievers," I never knew you."
