Midnight fallen on a nation
people went to be free- from rules, from burdens, from trials, from pain
from desolation, from loneliness, and suffering,
but didn’t realize they were living a falsehood, a lie
Midnight Falls was along the path that ran outside of town, and was easy to access
it had a fork in the road, left path was of falsehood, the right of goodness
all the people went to do as they pleased,
no rules in place, so they could be carefree
live for the moment, look at the hourglass and throw everything away
only to be carefree
and do as your heart hardened by coldness and strife desired
many mischievous acts were committed and sinful acts to spare, most didn’t care of what they had become
as their innocence faded and their judgment faded away, and their spirit withered
many cried for help, to have another chance,
for life after death and for deliverance, to leave behind despair
it was a late autumn night and it was very cold
a night where even the strong-hearted would do anything to be freed
from the frost ridden grass and short little road
that night, a young couple just married
ventured down the path of two forks
they knew of God and his grace and mercy
and He had the most cherished space in their hearts
as they walked hand in hand they thought of their new life together, a future full of promise
they soon came up to the fork, a choice must be made
which path would they choose, which way would they walk
they conversed amongst themselves and thought it through and through
should they head to midnight falls, where everyone else headed
or should they take the path to the right, a road less known, a road of mystery, a road that wasn’t
like the other, a road less taken
the couple listened to their hearts and the spirit inside
“trust me children, take the path to the right!
don’t follow the others who follow their own desires,
but follow me, you’ll have a life of love and peace
don’t follow a road well known, but follow me
where you’ll surely find peace and tranquility
lean not to your own understanding, and take the step,
I won’t fail you, I haven’t failed you yet"
the couple then took the path to the right
without hesitation or fear, despite lacking the gift of sight-
of the future, only living on the promise from inside their heart
but since God adorned there, there was no fear to step into the dark-unknown
Years passed and the couple was no more, they had become a family of four
and the family lives in peace for eternity
and those they told of God also remained
the same can’t be said for those of midnight falls,
the ones who kept cold hearts and deaf ears
no longer in existence, since they didn’t listen
to the call God gave them, the chance they failed to take
to leave behind the promise of darkness and conformity
follow the road less taken
and gain peace despite temporary long suffering
don’t be like the people of midnight falls
listen for the truth and hear God’s call
live in peace for now and forever, you, yours, and all
