With the advent of the Internet and cell phone, people today seem caught up with the technology.
Many have sacrificed reading for the cell phone. I know that these technology are important. Today many have allowed them to become something like an idol.
Some folks are on their cell phone while they are walking the streets unware of the the oncoming traffic. Their heads are bowed. To see people driving, texting. School children walking and their heads are bowed fingers tapping all the way.
I have never been a phone lover. The truth is that I have a cell phone, I use it for calls particularly emergency calls. Even my landline is not much used. I have always preferred to talk to people face to face. I know many may be living long distances away from friends and family and the phone is the only contact they might have. This is good. I think in today's society we are sacrificing so much for this technology. How many of us who are children and adults have placed reading a good book on the back burner.
Here in Barbados I see so many of our children with cell phones in hand. They seldom visit the library.
They walk with their tablet. I might be from the old school but I don't believe that an electronic device can replace a book. I love reading, especially when I am in bed and the rain is falling. There is nothing like turning the leaves of the book and marking the pages.![069_smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/smile.gif)
