I have to start cooking low sodium.
Anybody have any low sodium foods they regularly buy, and that taste pretty good?
And, any recipes, or websites for ideas?

I'm running low on what to cook and eat.
Everything seems to have sodium in it, except candy and applesauce.

Breads, rice mixes, yogurt, almost ALL snack foods,
except for Orville Redenbacher's plain popcorn in a plastic jar,
soups(terribly high) even the "low sodium" soups are bad, meats, lunchmeats, canned vegetables,
frozen tv dinners, all those, plus just regular foods like milk, cheese,
welch's grape juice, egg beaters, all have a lot of sodium in them, if you have more
than a quarter cup or a single slice, or half a serving.

I baked some corn muffins, but each stupid cornmuffin
has 340 mgs of sodium!!

Another problem: my chubby Chihuahua seems to be on an obsessive compulsive kick, with scratching herself. She also loves to drag her stomach across the rug, and scratch her belly until it's all red, if we don't catch her in time.
When she goes outside to wee week, takes a step, and scratches, takes a step, and scratches, takes a step, and scratches, and it takes FOREVER for her to do her business!
She does not have fleas, either.
Anybody else have a dog that just LOVES to scratch itself?
WHERE can I shop for un-sodiumed foods??

Wish I could help ya... I just eat whatever my wife puts in front of me. (except them little green balls they call baby brussel sprouts)

I love Brussel sprouts ! :-D

Biblereader, are you dealing with a high blood pressure issue?

Bummer about the high blood pressure. I got talked into a low salt diet once; it about killed me (probably because I'm so active). I'm back to eating anything and everything, and my blood tests are still fine.

Maybe it's possible to just sweat-out the salt through a lot of hard physical work? ;) Really though, good exercise is good for stress, and for some of us it's stress that causes the high blood pressure. It'd be handy if that was all that was needed.

If I eat too much sodium, like, say, eat a Subway turkey 6 inch sub, which has a THOUSAND milligrams of sodium: http://www.subway.com/applications/Nutr ... d=sandwich
My pressure goes up.
ALL that sodium isn't present in God's foods, prepared naturally. The trouble comes when we eat foods that have been basically pickled in salt, to preserve them.
Physical exercise is good, I do that, regularly, but, lately, it's been way too hot to be outside.
Even the professional joggers and runners stay indoors, or run in an air conditioned gym.
It's too hot to be outside right now: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weathe ... n=USFL0316
Heat and high BP will kill you quicker than anything.
Here's some more sodium contents of common fast foods, and everyday foods:
http://www.mcdonalds.com/ (this site is fun, when you click on the different parts of the world, and see what's on their menus, and how they advertise)
ONE serving of chicken noodle soup has 890 mgs of sodium! http://www.campbellwellness.com/product ... &catID=294

I don't like to eat any foods with more than 200 mgs. of sodium per serving.
Look at Olive Garden: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/54232.html
Pizza Hut: (ONE SLICE!! most people usually eat 2 slices) http://www.pizzahut.com/Files/PDF/Nutri ... 202007.pdf

I am not sure what you are expecting to hear, but will tell you my solution to the problem. I am vegan so I don't eat any eggs, cheese, milk, butter, or meat.

I have high blood pressure and have to watch the sodium intake. I found it better to just make my food from scratch and don't cook with salt. I do not use any premixed rices or casseroles, nor tv dinners. Got a big pat on the back from my doctor....

When ever we buy packaged meals we get a lot of sodium like it or not. The foods that don't have a lot are a lot more expensive and a true waste of money.

I do use things like ketchup, dressings but they don't have a lot of sodium if you consider how little you use at one time. I buy anything like that in low sodium if possible. Low sodium spaghetti sauces aren't to hard to find and they aren't that awful high priced either. I find home made is much better tasting.

I heard it makes you sleepy

Another hint to help reduces blood pressure...

Stay away from the Apologetics Forum and it's "sister" forum! :-D

To find out about eating for high blood pressure you could go to your local health food store and they will help you with a diet geard towards lowering the blood pressure.

And.. brussel sprouts are good! And... debates really will raise blood pressure! :smt073
