Norman tends to love complaining. Finding fault in the world and others.
Pete loves focussing on his positive plans for the future. He is about to start a small business. He's excited about the future. His enthusiasm is high.
But Pete loves talking about himself. He's not interested in you or your story or anyone's.
To be honest I would avoid both characters. They are both wrapped up in themselves.

Oops. That's right. I'm Christian.
I need to be patient with them.......up to a point.
I am more sympathetic with Norman. But I might need to draw the line at some stage.
"Norman , do you ever listen to yourself? How negative you can be?"

I had a friend like Pete. But I became his sounding board. He didn't even notice my existence after a while. " Oh good. Here comes my sounding board. I can relax and go full throttle!"

My personality is similar to Norman. But I'm trying to steer away from that. How dull I can be!

Assertive Andrew and Extroverted Ellen can help these two escape themselves. By gently challenging and encouraging them to focus differently.
If not go and see Counsellor Caitlin.
