On Walking in the Spirit...

I almost revived an older thread on this, but the content went a different direction than I'm looking for. (or maybe I just have a lot to learn, lol?)

Anyway...We are to be walking in the Spirit, yes? What does this mean to you?

We are to be led of the Spirit, yes? What does this mean to you, and how do you accomplish this, daily? Or do you?

I get the feeling that we're not supposed to do anything that isn't Spirit led. I pray every morning that the Lord's Spirit be with me, and lead me, teach me, guide me in all that I do...Then I go about my day. As I look back upon the day, I surmise that I wasn't being led of the Spirit. I was absorbed into my worldly work day.

It got me to thinking. How do I make it so that I am led by the Spirit...at all times. It occurs to me that in order to be led by the Spirit, one must be focused upon God, and mindful of His presence with me. Does that make sense?

The Holy Spirit can lead us in many ways. Many times it is but an unction from the Spirit upon us. But in order to be able to recognize the unctions of the Spirit, as being of the Spirit...is not always easy. Other times, The Spirit gives us an anointing for a specific task. These times, it's easier to recognize this being a leading of oneself. Even to the point of receiving articulations from the Spirit. Like for instance, being given words of knowledge. This has not ever happened to me. The Holy Spirit talked to me one time, and told me to pray for a Brother which needed help. There was no confusion in this. He interrupted my thoughts with His words. Even though I had never heard His voice before, I sure did recognize it. I did not test that Spirit, and yet, it was so. It was God, someone did need help, the sheep did hear and recognize His voice.

But it's not always that easy. The gentle nudges of the Spirit are sometimes dismissed as random thoughts. When one is in prayer, and being receptive to God and His words, one is expecting a response, waiting for it. But one can't go around in this state of life and function in the world and our tasks...can they?

He gives us hints...pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, everything you do, do unto the Lord Colossians 3:23-24, and that right there is telling us that we are to be (spirit led) mindful of the Lord at all times. Right?

I better stop here for now, lol.
 
That's a difficult one, walking in the Spirit. I was touched by the Spirit in a very deep way nearly 20 years ago. I remember the day. It was January 19, 1997. I knew at that point that the Lord had something for me. Now 20 years later, nothing has happened like the visions God gave me. I often wonder, did I walk in the Spirit and stay obedient. I believe I was obedient to the point of losing almost everything I had, but nothing has happened according to the visions I had yet.

I know it takes a lot of time for God to work in peoples lives, but as far as walking in the Spirit I'm not sure how to do that at this moment in my life. Perhaps the Lord will reveal it to me again some day, but right now I'm confused about exactly how and what to do when it comes to walking in the Spirit.

Makes life much more interesting, to see things in the above light.

I can relate. (Hence the thread lol). That it takes the Lord so long is probably a good thing, because we seem to be slow learners, us humans. Geez, the Lord has been saying "soon" for...thousands of years now!

But He has shown me that, He's always last minute, but never late. That's my God!

It's a Divine Principle. See 1 Cor. 15:46, 2 Cor. 12:9-11, Gal. 6:3 for references.

The Gospel is the best deal that ever existed. Everything for nothing.
 
This scripture sums it up a lot.

Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it agin: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

The Spirit resides in Heaven and on earth in believers. This same Holy Spirit brings the same kind of peace that we will experience in heaven......it brings that heavenly peace to us here.
 
There were times when my life was in danger and I felt the Lord guiding my attention to the immediate threat and then guiding me to take action to avoid the impending doom.
