I almost revived an older thread on this, but the content went a different direction than I'm looking for. (or maybe I just have a lot to learn, lol?)
Anyway...We are to be walking in the Spirit, yes? What does this mean to you?
We are to be led of the Spirit, yes? What does this mean to you, and how do you accomplish this, daily? Or do you?
I get the feeling that we're not supposed to do anything that isn't Spirit led. I pray every morning that the Lord's Spirit be with me, and lead me, teach me, guide me in all that I do...Then I go about my day. As I look back upon the day, I surmise that I wasn't being led of the Spirit. I was absorbed into my worldly work day.
It got me to thinking. How do I make it so that I am led by the Spirit...at all times. It occurs to me that in order to be led by the Spirit, one must be focused upon God, and mindful of His presence with me. Does that make sense?
The Holy Spirit can lead us in many ways. Many times it is but an unction from the Spirit upon us. But in order to be able to recognize the unctions of the Spirit, as being of the Spirit...is not always easy. Other times, The Spirit gives us an anointing for a specific task. These times, it's easier to recognize this being a leading of oneself. Even to the point of receiving articulations from the Spirit. Like for instance, being given words of knowledge. This has not ever happened to me. The Holy Spirit talked to me one time, and told me to pray for a Brother which needed help. There was no confusion in this. He interrupted my thoughts with His words. Even though I had never heard His voice before, I sure did recognize it. I did not test that Spirit, and yet, it was so. It was God, someone did need help, the sheep did hear and recognize His voice.
But it's not always that easy. The gentle nudges of the Spirit are sometimes dismissed as random thoughts. When one is in prayer, and being receptive to God and His words, one is expecting a response, waiting for it. But one can't go around in this state of life and function in the world and our tasks...can they?
He gives us hints...pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, everything you do, do unto the Lord Colossians 3:23-24, and that right there is telling us that we are to be (spirit led) mindful of the Lord at all times. Right?
I better stop here for now, lol.
