Today was a Monday. I will spare you all the details, but will leave you with this one thought: The only person I can depend on is myself. PERIOD. Same goes for you, so LEARN THAT.
Long ago, I learned electronics and some basic mechanics as well as some high school physics and maths. I can fix most issues with my car myself (and do so on a regular basis). I can wire a home and have done so (complete) twice. I can do most plumbing and have NEVER paid a plumber for ANYTHING. I am very happy that I am not depending on others for every little thing, like so many people.
And today that fact REALLY became real to me - I arrived in Wilmington, NC and realized the new accessories for my CPAP are the WRONG items. I cannot sleep without it - so I ended up going to Home Depot - and now I have a working CPAP. (Advanced Home Care? Gotta be a better, more caring company than them.....)
My lesson: Learn to do things yourself. Learn how the world (and man's many inventions and "technology") work - and how to do for yourself - unless you can come up with a way to make SO much money, that paying others is not a challenge for you. And given today's incompetence, uncaring attitudes and poor work ethic, you could be paying a LOT of money for even simple stuff.
And, as you may have guessed, there was more to today than the CPAP. There was the cab that is usually reliable - but let me down today. The rental car company that is usually great to me - who let me down today. And accounts payable, who announced that they would not reimburse me for my $60 case for my new company phone. (That last one, I must say, well, my boss wrote a sharp email to A/P - and they caved in 20 minutes and put their tail between their legs and said they'd send me my $60 by Friday. So, ok, fine - the boss came thru for me. I admit that.................)
