There's been a lot going on in my life, here's just a part:

I've seen the black eyes of death in a few friends eyes. Royce who died of cancer.

Jaunita who's leg was amputated because of diabetes. She told me before we prayed that losing her leg was the worse thing that she's ever gone through. I think back and have comfort in knowing she'll have a new leg.

I've never seen the face of death until we lost Benny to cancer 6/29/04. This was a man who did not lead a Christian life. My husband was asked to visit him because his family was concerned about his salvation. By the time we arrived Benny was not responsive. His beautiful step granddaughter Britney, who's only 7 was sitting by his bed side. Britney has been badly abused by her mother's boyfriend and now lives with her grandmother. A woman who can barely support herself took on the extra burden of raising this little girl. After prayer Britney ran outside and her grandmother followed. I went outside to talk to them. Britney's blue eyes, red from days of crying. I said I need a hug real bad, Britney reached up and hugged me and we all cried. I explain that when a house is burning people will flee so they won't be destroyed with the house. I told her that's what it's like when people die. When the body is dying/being destroyed the soul will flee. She's a very intelligent little girl and she understood. I told her grandmother that Britney did not need to watch Benny take his last breath. Dealing with death is hard for anyone but to watch someone die with all Britney has already endured, is way too much for a 7 year old to deal with.

We took some food and money over the next afternoon and I told my husband if Britney was still sitting there I was going to see if she could come home with us. When we pulled up Britney came running out, I told her I've got something for you. She took the bag and went inside and opened up what I'ld hoped would take her mind off the past couple of weeks. A big smile, hug, and a thank you was worth it all. I was proud that her grandmother made arrangements for Britney to stay with a friend. I praise the Lord that she wasn't there when Benny past.

The Lord has lead me to help this family all I can. The grandmother's only income is $81.00 a month in child support. She's not in good health but she does odd jobs for extra money. She's not old enough to draw social security.

Her son is hoping they'll move in with him and his wife but the space/funds are limited.

Please pray for this family and that I won't let them down:

God Bless!
