First of all I admit to doing this out of habit. It's a bad habit I know.
Why do I do it?
Maybe it soothes the doubt and anxiety caused by dwelling on my own shortcomings.
Also I pride myself on seeing what others may not see.
The sin of pride is at the root. And arrogance.
But it is also a kind of defence mechanism. "I'm no worse than Mr. X".
"That person can't even see their own faults. Let me enlighten".
Now in my defence, I will say that I try to find some good, where others may only see fault or nothing at all. I tend to make friends of people on the margins. Loners. Sometimes those loners are like undiscovered gems.

Tall poppy syndrome. Heard of it?
Dragging down a popular person. I might do that too. Thinking to myself, "they are fakes, imposters, only I can see their real personality".
But I am often wrong. And that person deserves their popularity. They are popular for a reason I can't deny. I might be envious eh.

Wow..this is my core sin actually. How dare I call myself Humble Soul! Perhaps "Deepdownniceguy" would be better. or "Hemeanswell"....

May I suggest rereading Phillipians Ch 2.

It is an old old comment but when we point the finger at others, whether literally or metaphysically, there are always three fingers pointing back at us!

One of the best quotes ever in scripture was Christ saying whoever is without wrong cast the first stone. The whole world knows that saying even the non religious that's how wise Christ was.

That was probably the first time in history when someone actually called the world out and made other people acturaly think about what they are doing, and if they are any better.

That has always been my favourite quote . Whoever is without wrong cast the first stone, because no one can answer it without a fail. Well, some people do live in denial and will claim they know best.

Sometimes, it is said, that when we dislike a person because of a certain fault it is because it is like looking in a mirror.
As far as popularity goes, Jesus doesn't care hiow popular a person is , He cares about the person.

I don't see Jesus as a soft loving teddy bear just because he layed his life down for the world and has grace, forgiveness, and mercy.

I am scared of Jesus, he is hard, he is strick, and he don't put up with any of my excuses. The Spirit will tell me what's up. If I think I can get away without Jesus seeing something im joking myself the Spirit will hit me until I acknowledge it and repent.

Lol k don't look at Jesis as a big soft teddy bear. Sorry if it came over that way. He is love and yes He is strict and I fear Him too. Not sure how you thought I meant He was a big soft teddy bear. Merciful yes, to those who repent. But not soft. He is perfect love, which involves correcting us too. A

It's all good. It was nothing to do with you, it was just my own post and belief as I just quoted you as a reply. I was not directing anything at you or about you my friend.

What is the most common saying in Christianity. "Jesus loves you". That's true, but that does not automatically mean Jesus is tolerant and accepting.

Jesus is probably the most intolerant and unaccepting person I have ever known. Even he said himself it's a narrow road.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
139:7-14

Im so thankful He sees us as we really are, and nothing is hidden from His sight, yet He still loves us, and is actively involved with us every moment of every day, helping us by His Spirit, to change... and my soul knows very well.

God is good!

Are you sure Jesus is intolerant? That doesn't make sense to me. I thought he suffered sinners gladly.

I think psychologists call that one projection. Generally I don't mind people similar to me. But on this one (hypercritical of others) , I really loathe that character trait. So yeah I project this one. Analytical fault finders are boring after a short while. The best types are free spirited creatives. Bringing us fresh perspectives.

I used to be very friendly with one of my siblings. We used to get together and drink and spend the whole time gossiping about the rest of the family. It made us feel superior I guess. Priding ourselves on our awesome analyses.
I'm not close to this guy anymore. So we don't gossip. In fact I don't gossip with anyone these days. Part of me misses that...how weird...

Yes. I do believe Jesus is intolerant. He has very high morals and standards.

I will correct you and say most people are like undiscovered gems. Who appealed to Jesus the most, loners and despised people. The best people in this world are the undiscovered gems, they have more potential because they have been in darker places in life.
