Okay so we are soon to reopen our pool. A pool takes a lot of maintenance, but it's on balance worth it, we think. Soon we are due to have ours relined; we had some leakages last year but since the lining hasn't been replaced for a long while, we don't mind having to do it, anyway.

In the past we've had some of the young folk over from church to use it. Roll on pool weather!

Blessings.

Same here. I do have a knack working with water getting the right balance of filtration, skimming, vacuuming and chemical cleans to purify the water. Just as some people have a green thumb, I can turn mosquito and encephalitis infested murky and sludgy, smelly water into a delightful, sparkling clean and drinkable pool in just a few days.

Remember to buy a few boxes of cheap "Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda" to balance the PH. It's the same stuff they rip you off at pool stores that you pay ten times as much for (although they'll tell you otherwise).

:( Kinda wish I had one, but not necessary when there are plenty of lakes around to swim, fish, and boat around in. Pools are alot of maintenance as others here mentioned. PH balance, cleaning, emptying/refilling. I think a hot tub or Jacuzzi would interest me more except on really hot days....then I guess you could just turn the heater off.

If vanity wasn't an issue I sure would like one of those fancy contemporary pools that the wealthy people have...most of them do look neat.

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>

Blessings.

Ours is an above ground pool, and you can get them reasonably priced these days. As for the work, one has to have the knack. I've been told by exhausted-sounding voices, "It's a lot of work". I say that's only true of one who constantly struggles with it (e.g. don't have the knack for adjusting chemistry), and don't like working with water and filtration systems. But I don't mind at all. And I'm the type who is not overly inclined to do a lot of work at one time. 2 hours of yard work a day while off is plenty and I call that a full day! And I certainly don't like any sort of maintenance work at all opting for professionals to do it instead (things constantly go wrong for me and I don't have the patience I did when I was younger). So, given I'm a fairly lazy person, I think it's safe to say if I can handle it, most people can.

HOWEVER, that being said, if I ever need a new liner I WILL have that professionally done. They can deal with that aggravation. I'll drain the water, work with the pump and filter, and then refill it afterwards, that's it! :lol
