Much of Florida is under a freeze warning tonight. That may not seem like a big deal to those who live in snow covered places, but it is a real hardship for the homeless people here. Shelters are filled to capacity.
Please pray especially for the homeless people in St. Petersburg. In recent weeks two homeless people were found murdered.
There has been a battle going on between the homeless and the city for over a month. A church in St. Pete set up a tent city, where dozens of homeless people were staying. It was ordered to be removed by the Fire Marshall. Several days later, city police were ordered to tear down the remaining tents. They did not just tear them down, they slashed them with box cutters.
"Tent Cities" have been popping up all over St. Pete. The homeless are now wanting to file charges against the city.
In the mean time, the temperature is to hit freezing lows tonight and tomorrow.
