In class today I heard about the plans one of my fellow students was making. It was a business class that focused on our efforts to outreach to the community and establish our "network". She spoke of her plan to travel to Bangladesh. She spoke of her interest in non-profits and the story of a business that she'd like to partner with, even on a volunteer basis. We heard about how the business that she had contacted began simply by reaching out to provide rudimentary teaching and instruction to children who where homeless. It started with a couple kids, then grew to five then ten and then 20+. Today there are literally more than a hundred kids that meet under the sun when they may and under tarps and trees for shelter during the monsoon season in order to learn and continue in hope for a better life.
Anyway, she apologized as she confessed a strange thought when she first heard about what had happened in Boston. The thought? "Please! Don't let it be Muslims [who did this]."
She told about how she and her four-year-old daughter whom she will take with her to Bangladesh had faced aftermath of violence even in our peaceful community. There were death threats to her and to her loved ones. I was struck with compassion for the injury that was given to her, and the innocent blood that was almost spilled. And I'll tell you without fear of contradiction, I am not compassionate. Not when compared to God. What little compassion I have comes from Him.
So I thought I'd come and ask to extend our prayer so that all innocent be covered by the concern we raise to our Lord in prayer this day.
Amen. thank you for this. It is an upright act. "Little children, do not be confused. Those who do good are good." This is a good thing to do. So saith the Lord, so also saith His Apostles, and so said WIP who speaks what he has heard, and me too who tries to prove all things and hold fast to the truth.
