My 6 year old, Kailey, has to have a Laryngoscopy done Monday. They will put her asleep for the procedure.

She's been seeing a specialist for problems with constantly clearing her throat. This has been going on for about a year now. It got better, then about 5 days ago, she stopped eating. She screams and cries when she tries to eat and each time she swallows, she panics and says there's something "stuck" in there and that she'll choke. She can eat, but she's afraid to. I've tried everything. I've finally been able to get her to eat some abc's and 123's spaghettio-s tonight. She eats one little number/letter at a time, but hey...she's eating and that's all that matters. She's lost so much weight and is just skin and bones. She's always been skinny, but nothing like now. My husband burst into tears when he saw me taking her out of the tub one day this week. He had no clue just how skinny she had gotten. I had TOLD him, but he had not seen her.

They are going to check for nodules and a few other things. Just say a small prayer for her Monday that the procedure will go ok and that she won't have any problems with the anesthesia.

Thanks everyone. I love you all and don't know what I'd do without you!

O most high God... God who sits high and looks low, here this prayer.

I stand in the gap with Nikki for her daughter. Be gracious and merciful in this thing, O God of wholeness. Be strong upon this child and all the care-givers as this thing happens. Let the tests show a lack of serious problems. Let this thing be easily and completely resolved. If it be in Thy plan to completely heal this child, then do it today, right this moment O great and able God.

I know how much You love her and her mom. bless them indeed O Lord. Grant the doctors and nurses and techs a heavy annointing allowing them abilities and skills far above the norm. I ask all these blessings in the name of our risen Lord, Christ Jesus... amen

Sorry Nikki I am a little late. I pray all went well with your little one's procedure if it has already taken place. I stand in agreement with the saint's here in prayer. You, your husband and loved ones especially your little daughter are in my mind and prayers. God bless you all. Lord, lifting this little girl up to You.

Thanks everyone! Kailey did great. I didn't realize how simple of a procedure it would be. They determined that her vocal chords are not straight the way they should be and that her "voice box" was very irritated. The doctor said you see that in kids that yell a lot (Kailey falls in that category) and kids that have reflux. So, we got a prescription of Prevacid (I think that's the name of it) and we have to go back in 3 months.

I have GOT to tell you though that her being put to sleep was HILARIOUS! We got to stay in the room the entire time they did it. When they started putting the meds through the iv, her eyes started to roll back into her head (which was scary) and she started saying "I can't see....I can't see anything....I can't see". Then she'd lay back and fall asleep, then a minut later, sit straight up and yell "I can't see!". They gave her a bit more meds and she was slap out. The procedure took about 2 minutes. It was so quick. Then they took her iv out and she woke up almost instantly, but she acted so DRUNK! When she started coming to, she sat up and yelled "Woooah! I feel dizzy!...weeee!!!". Then she looked at her hand (eyes rolling back into her head as she tried looking) and saw where the iv's were and said "Cooooollll....I have holes in my hands". She was saying all kinds of hilarious things. The doctor, nurse and anesthesioligist couldn't stop laughing. They said that Kailey was one of a kind and they've never seen anything like her. (is that good or bad?...lol) She talked and talked and talked about all kinds of things. She would lean her head back and look at everyone and yell "Hey! You're upside down! You silly people, you need to stand up right".   She never shut up except to take a breath and the entire time, she was slurring like I don't know what. It was so funny

It took about an hour for everything to wear off and she was wide open the rest of the day with no complaints. :biggrin
