They found a tumor on his brain, and a mass on his lung.

The biopsy of the lung tissue has been sent to a pathologist, so the results will still be a day or more in coming. The neurologist said the tumor in his brain, which is the size of a grape, is large enough and deep enough that he feels the need to do surgery to remove it. It is in a ventricle of the brain, which is a hollow cavity. This probably means the tumor is self-contained, so it has not and will not spread any further. He still wants to remove the tumor so it doesn’t affect anything else. A date could not be set in stone, but they are hoping for surgery possibly tomorrow or Friday.

Pastor is so appreciative of the calls, e-mails, and flowers. It is a great encouragement to him. He is also thankful for your love and prayers at this time. Please pray for his son Nathan and daughter-in-law Abigail as they travel here today/tomorrow to be with Pastor. And continue to pray for his family and that the tumor(s) will be benign! We serve a great God.

If you would like to send and e-mail, or an e-card you can send it to the church email: grace@gracebaptist-anderson.com

Update on Pastor Crockett

Dear Friends and fellow believers,

Pastor is still currently undergoing his PET scan to reveal whether or not there is any other cancer in his body. We have just been informed that his surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday, August 11, 2006) at 10:00 am. This surgery will remove the brain tumor.

The neurosurgeon has requested that only family members visit with Pastor now through the weekend. This is for Pastor’s own good, that he might get the rest he needs at this time. Please do not attempt to visit him. Our prayer support is all he truly needs at this time. Please uphold Pastor and all the family in your prayers, especially throughout the surgery tomorrow and the recovery process this weekend.

If you wish to e-mail pastor or send him cards, you may mail these to the church.

Flowers may be sent to the church to be taken to him, or sent directly to:

Methodist Hospital,
Indianapolis, Indiana 46201
Room A5035.

I invite you all to band together in prayer tomorrow between 9:00am and 12:00pm for Pastor. Even though he is trusting in God, he will undoubtedly be a little nervous as he prepares for the operation. During the operation, we need to pray that the Great Physician will perform the surgery through Dr. Holder’s human hands, as neurosurgery is a very delicate matter. And the hours after surgery will also be crucial. Please set aside some time to take these things to our Great God in prayer. We know that God works all things out to our good and that He will have His way in the life of Pastor and GBC.

Thank you all so much for your support. In means a lot to Pastor.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Jms 5:16

8/11/06 AM undate on Pastor Crockett

Dear Friends and fellow believers,

The Lord is indeed good and gracious! The PET scan results have come back to show NO other signs of cancer in Pastor’s body! This is a definite praise and answer to prayer. This means that the lung cancer may have only spread to the brain in the self-contained tumor, or should the brain tumor prove to be benign (doctors will not know until the surgery is performed), that the mass in his lung is all that remains to be treated.

Thank you all so much for your prayers.

Wonderful winger, praise God! I hope the surgery goes well, let us know. The Lord bless you.

PRAISE GOD !

Dear friends and fellow believers,

Pastor Crockett’s surgery went very well. The doctors successfully removed the brain tumor, and Pastor is now in recovery. We have not been informed yet if the tumor is malignant or benign, but the important news is that it was removed and Pastor is doing well! As soon as I am given more information, I will pass it along to you.

UPDATE!!

Great things He hath done! I am pleased to let you all know that the tumor in Pastor Crockett’s brain is completely benign! The doctors were quite surprised to find this out, but we know that the Great Physician has indeed performed another miracle. In fact, had Pastor not had the brain tumor and began having convulsions last Friday, we may have not known and been able to catch the lung cancer before it was too late. God indeed has done great and marvelous things.

Pastor is resting now in the ICU at Methodist Hospital. He’s still groggy, but the doctors are very pleased with the surgery and the progress that was made.

I will not be updating anymore this weekend, unless events warrant. Assume that no news is good news from me! I will most definitely keep you posted of any new updates or problems.

Thank you all so very much for your prayers. We serve a great God.
