Precept upon Precept

IS 28:9-10
'Whom shall HE teach knowledge? and whom shall HE make to understand doctrine?
Them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breast.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept. line upon line line upon
line; here a little, there a little.'

Accoring to this scripture, there is only one way to rightly-divide the WORD of GOD.
And if one were to start at the Beginning (GEN 1-3), and apply this principle, the TRUTH is evident, and there really are no mysteries. GOD spoke the TRUTH, and had it recorded so all could have it: and it is literal because GOD does not lie.

What's literal, the scripture you quoted or the whole Bible?

According to God, every word He breathes is inspired. Therefore, every word He breathes is literal, within the parameters of His intent, be it allegory, parable, metaphor or history.
