Philippians 2:16: "...holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain."
Romans 15:17: "In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God."

Why do so many Christians think that pride is always wrong?
 
Jesus always criticized it in the context of the "holier-than-thou" people. Paul, for example, taught us to be proud of our efforts to be what God expects us to be, but not to compare ourselves to others with pride.
