DARKENED UNDERSTANDING

This is understanding of the meaning of prophecy from the book of Daniel. Because Jesus Christ suffered and died as a final sacrifice for sins (once for all) the offering of sacrifices for sin by the Law was ended, and now there is no condemnation for sin (as we walk with the Spirit) because we have been redeemed from the curse of the Law. Now our sins are forgiven by the grace of God for our faith in the name of Jesus Christ, to be born again by being reconciled to God when forgiven of all trespasses and sins.

Prophecy from Daniel 9:24-25 says Messiah would come 7 + 62 = 69 “weeks†(7 x 69 = 483 years) after the command was given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. From the year of the command to rebuild in 457 B.C., unto the coming of Messiah 483 years later, was the year 26 A.D. (-457 + 483 = 26).

But then 62 “weeks†(7 x 62 = 434 years) after the coming of the Messiah (Jesus Christ), the Spirit of Christ was cut-off from being received by the grace of God through faith. This happened when Law-like doctrine entered to “destroy†sin in the life of the holy people; those who took pleasure in unrighteousness rather than receive the love of the truth so they might be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:12).

These 434 years after the coming of Messiah in 26 A.D. brought us to 460 A.D. (26 + 434 = 460 A.D.). Pope Leo I (the great) is believed to have fulfilled this prophecy by declaring himself to be head of the church (Daniel 8:10-12, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12).

The rest of the dead in trespasses and sins did not live again for 1000 years (Revelation 20:5) because believers were hindered from being born again by the grace of God through faith because of Law-like doctrine. Those who took pleasure in unrighteousness were damned for not receiving the love of the truth (Jesus Christ) so they might be saved. This is similar to Israel being cast into outer darkness (Matthew 8:12) when they were blinded to Jesus Christ as the Messiah (Romans 11:7 33) because of unbelief. Darkened doctrine was accepted as truth, and truth was seen as darkness. When laws, commandments, sacraments and traditions became doctrine for righteousness and salvation, rather than the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ, the world went into perdition for 1260 years by living under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church (Romans 7:6, 9). Returning to Law was like a change in time and laws (Daniel 7:25).

The Apostle Peter said, they would bring in damnable heresies and speak evil of the way of truth (2 Peter 2:1 2). The Apostle Paul said, they would not endure sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3); God sent a strong delusion so they should believe a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:11). Even in the early church there were some that tried to lead the church into doing works of the Law again (Galatians 2:4). There were some that desired to be teachers of the Law (1 Timothy 1:7), who did not understand what they were saying.

The Mosaic Law is our schoolmaster to make us aware of our sin and need of salvation so we might be justified by the grace of God for our faith in the name of Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:24). When we see our sin as revealed by the Commandments and realize our need, we can repent and trust in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to be born again as a child of God by being reconciled to God when forgiven of all trespasses and sins. We are relieved of our burden of guilt from sin, and fellowship with God our Father is restored. We grow in grace and wisdom as God purifies us of sin to conform us to the image of Jesus Christ. When a believer has truly been born again, we not only believe we have been saved, we know we have been saved by the witness of the Spirit of God within us.

The Bible says, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Eternal life is a gift from God; and His gifts and calling are without repentance (Romans 11:29). When God gives a gift, He does not take it away. Eternal life is a gift God does not take away. As the will of God, excommunication was used as a means of restraining the sin of those who took pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). The verses, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them that believe and know the truth (1 Timothy 4:3). Prophecy and these verses forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from eating meats (fish on Fridays) also reveal this was the Roman Catholic Church. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;(1 Timothy 2:5).

A believer is not saved just because they are a member of a particular denomination. By believing in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, we are born again by being reconciled to God when forgiven of all trespasses and sins. But for believers to be forgiven, we need to repent by confessing and turning from the world and sin. We are baptized with water in the name of Jesus Christ to be forgiven of past sins. But to be forgiven of all trespasses and sins, we need to repent or turn from sin in our life, to forgive the trespasses of others, and try to be forgiven by others of our trespasses against them. When we have been saved by being reconciled to God, we are made alive (born again) and raised up together with Christ. We go on to “perfection†as God purifies us of sin. We grow in grace and wisdom as we are conformed to the image of Jesus Christ to have our mortal body “changed†to put on immortality. This is the resurrection of the body of 1 Corinthians 15:51-53.

With love in Christ,..........God bless

You seem to be correlating the millenium of Christ's reign to having already happened. The problem with that is that Satan has been in alive and well in the world and has not been bound. So the millenium could not have already happened. :)

I don't pretend to know a great deal about Christian doctrines, but where in Daniel does it say anything about the Messiah?

The Anointed One referred to in Daniel 9:26 refers to the Messiah. :)

I'm just saying that I doubt the Hebrews (Israelites, Jews, 12 tribes, etc.) would be using a form of their own numeral system at the time if they were conquered and deported to Babylon and forced to adapt to the culture so they could live their lives smoothly. I think that the Hebrews' own numeral system would be the exception rather than the rule most of the time. It's like trying to use the English system of measurement in a country which only uses the Metric. There's no real point to it, and it'd only be a hassle.

It also appears to me that many of the Hebrews toward the end of the exile period were so integrated into the culture of Babylon that they wanted to stay in Babylon rather than return home.

That is true. What is also true is, Judah was afforded many of their own customs while in exile (captivity), included in that was their Sacred Text. It was completely edited and compiled into what would become the Jewish canonized scripture.

Hi Dan Edwin:

I'm not sure what the clear point is from your OP but, it seems to me you are just pulling out scriptures here and there to arrive at some previous viewpoint.
