Race & Old Disney

I see that and the last thing I think of as a Christian is racist, I see natural diversity, nothing more. That is, directly akin to the Indians that are offended because of the Cigar Totems of years past. My Birth Father was full blooded Mescalero Apache and thought they were ignorant.

The Mescalero were the most despised of all the Apache nation and because Sierra, my father's father, refused to fight the White and lose his people, we were and are known as the Dog Eaters. When the Disney people made cartoons with silly looking indians dressed completely wrong, I remember these are for the entertainment of all children, even me.

Between being Jewish German and Mescalero, I have a three fold, much more than three times, reason to be offended if I choose the lesser route through life. Life is far to complicated to complicate it any further, my mom and birth father did that enough before I arrived here.

May God give you reasons to laugh. Vernon Edwards, 6'4" black man and I were tight in 'Nam when all the stupid riots were breaking out in all four War Zones and, baby, we could do some wine and a little Sam Cook. That's a lot more fun than beating one another's brains out and expecting the dude to cover you rear end in the morning when sir Charles jumped on us.

Old cartoons like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry have moments where they make fun of races, too. More blatant than most of the stuff on this list, I think.

When I was little and would watch cartoons everyday, I never thought anything about it, because at my age I didn't know anybetter. But I remember seeing a lot of that stuff. I forgot all about it until I saw that articl, well almost because I have a collection of Looney Tunes and that stuff is on the early Looney Tunes DVD's. Also The Tree Stooges, all people of color were shown as complete bug eyed dummies,

And Jews are all filthy rich, stupid and mean in the fa ntasy world. Germans are all Nazis and Indians, like Blacksw are bug eyed and dumb but cartoons are equal oppotunity when it comes to prejudice and because the white king of cartoons has been a rabbits fool for all my life.

Every oneof us has a life choice to make and I, for one, have already made it, a few yearsw after I returned home to receive the magnamous gift of spit in my face and eyes. We can allow sin sick small minded sinners to define who we are or we can loaugh in their faces, hold our heads and bodies erect and laugh at them as we walk away... driving them nuts.

Taylor, Temple & Robinson broke barriers , but I still did not like the way they the writers, and directors made Robinson act at times. I am a Temple fanatic just love Shirley Temple. But I am glad that he got his foot in the door for others to follow.

Shirley Temple and Bill Robinson broke some racial barriers while upholding others

Bill "Bojangles" Robinson refers to Robinson’s role in The Littlest Rebel and other Shirley Temple movies as the “quintessential Uncle Tom

I am also proud the barriers have and are falling but open agression has done nothing thus far. Bill Robinson broke that barrier by doing all he could and every black artist in this world owes him but he did not accomplish it by going to war with whitey. In the fifties my dad, my stepfather, loved the blues but a record never was acquired for less than a ten spot because he could not go in to buy the records until he became the cigar and candy man, before that he had to pay a black man or girl to buy it for him and yes, he lost a couple of ten spots.

Where we are today, people like me and some friends believed in Dr. King and all of us knew we could be lynched but we did not start trouble we saw and were in involved in.

The Red Tails lived just like white men until they stepped off that ship after the war and the sign said Whites Left, N-_-_-_ Right. The few of them still living proved black men were, not only the best of the best fighter pilots but the Red Tails broke the aviation barrier and were finally Officers, they did so by never starting trouble.

Vivian Thomas is the most remarkable man I know of. He was the first black man's photo on the wall of fame at Johns Hopkins. He was fired because the economy fell out and it did not matter that he was the best freaking carpenter on the job, he was black.

He put his tools away and went to work with a research doctor whose wife all but cursed him for not sending Thomas to Med. School and still Vivian Thomas taught De Bakey and all the first heart surgeons their profession and broke that barrier for black men and he never started any trouble.

These men are the men every young black teen needs to follow and trash the phoney race hustlers like Al and Jesse that are raping the American Black Man, them and the latest addition, Obama and he's half white.

May the hand of God rest on your heart.

Yeah, and so do all my Swamp Buds, white, black, red or what ever, as do I when I could still get in a pero or an Airboat to go fishing with them. The only racial distinction I ever found in south La. was don't call nobody Redbone, nobody. Get past that and we all just sit down and enjoy the best crabs, water bugs, (crawfish to some of you) and bull frog you can find in the world.

10-4 and I ran with those nuts long enough that I once fooled one in an East Texas club into believing I was from the swamps. I love those people, all of them except those in Nawlins.

zydeco and creole music styles were close and hard to tell apart. white attractive women drunk and speaking French and chucking musical instruments was indeed strange.

sadly I wasn't that assimilated in the local culture. remember being a non-native I was still an outsider. given time I would have been accepted more and if I was more into that stuff as well.

Noooo, Frenchy dance on the wooden floor of the joint built 12 inches above the swamp water in real Dutch Clods... that was strange and, maaaaybeee, a little loud. After he did that we could find the gators anywhere close. Fun people!
