Rainbow Child
rain falls fresh, sunny days not forgotten, but not seen
as the night is young and the midnight bell tolls
that time again, time to reach out to the lost souls
as the sun rises through the clouds, and reveals the rainbow
rainbow child, I see you there below me
wrestling through commonplace emotions, everyday struggles
from the interesting to sublime, from old to new times
I have been here, there, with you
you are my beautiful creation, shrouded with everlasting beauty
but a myth has been raised, your honor has been replaced
with pain and suffering, majesty I've bestowed you've forgotten
fallen to the spells of the foolish,
sticks and stones may not break bones
but they cut through to the spirit
like a rainbow, your beauty has it's own story
shrouded in mystery, falsehoods and myths, but I see your true essense
some say you are your own critical drink,
that others fall drunken in your presensce
that your joy is weird, your way of life naive
told you are foolish for what you believe
feeling dumber by the minute you start to believe
you turned away, but I followed
you walked away, but I watched,
you ran, but I kept tabs
I kept my arms open for embrace, while you fought, my name you forgot
the various challenges you underwent, the life that's become a tale
the storms you've overcome, the wind blew as it may
but you're still here, and so am I, you are my rainbow child
beautifully made, I see you for who you are
no need to pretend, no need to lie
for I know you my wonderful creation
you shine through the rainy days, you are eternally beautiful
through the rain you shine, because you, are my rainbow child
I know you by name, by your lonely smile, by your face
details long forgotten, never seen nor noticed
those special details that make you you I memorized for all eternity
but I know you most by your heart, your love and warm embrace
the methods of your madness are commonplace
the things of new are old to me
so many things I wish to tell but will you hear
I know everything you've gone through or will ever face
like a baby bird on a rainy day,
you saw your flock run away, you called for them but they turned away
or seemingly so, but you didn't know they'd return
but all the while I was there
through it all, your history is your story
of old things past, setting the foundation for a new tomorrow
as the sun rises over the rain, and the clouds set
you are my natural enigma, you are my rainbow
my rainbow child
