MATTHEW 5
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
WHERE IS YOUR LIGHT?
Jesus shines forth from us by the Holy Spirit, but we can hide him.
If you have a light, you want to show it, you don't come into your house at night and then not turn on the light.
One example, I can give is that of witnessing, we have many opportunities to share the gospel but do we take them, either by fear or by worrying that the message we share will be rejected. That is no excuse, Paul shared the gospel everywhere he went, he was largely rejected like at Athens, but some believed. When we don't share the gospel, we hide the light from people, people are walking around in darkness, they need light.
Another way we can block out the light, is by unresolved and unforgiven sin, the Holy Spirit, cannot work through people who simply have anger and bitterness ruling their lives, he works through clean vessels.
We are not only to shine our lights before men, by sharing the gospel, but by doing good works. What do we do to help people in your family, your church and your community?
Do you share and shine your light or do you hide your light?
Where have you put your light?
God bless you

1 JOHN 5
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
TRUE CONFIDENCE
Many people either lack confidence or have too much confidence in themselves, but the best kind of confidence and assurance to have is to believe and trust in Christ.
Everything John has written, not just in his letter, but in his gospel, is to lead people, not just to believe, but to know without a shadow of a doubt that they are saved.
Why is this assurance so important, in many believers lives, there is much doubt, and I must admit that in my Christian walk, I have doubted my faith, this assurance is a prime target of the devil, he will say "look at that sin you did", surely you can't be saved, these verses are there so you can rebuke him.
Death stalks us all, it is the thing we must all face, but thanks God, we have this assurance, that we have eternal life and we will spend eternity with Christ. This is the greatest assurance anyone can have.. amen.
Remember back in Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
。
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
We do not know how to pray, but we are led by the Spirit of God, he knows the mind of the Father, he knows what the father wants to bless us and when and so he leads our prayers, this is the confidence we have that not only do we have eternal life, but also access to the Father here on earth.
We have great confidence, we are assured of eternal life and we have fellowship with the Father. Isn't that simply amazing?
God bless you
