MATTHEW 8
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel
。
GOD'S PROMISES ARE ENOUGH
The story of the centurion's servant is outlined in these verses and also in Luke chapter 7.
Why did Jesus marvel at the Centurion? Why did He say the words He did in verse 10?
After all this man was a Gentile. While he loved the Jewish nation, he was still an outcast in terms of his relationship with God.
To see why his faith made Jesus marvel, we need to look carefully at the words in verse 8, "just speak the word and my servant shall be healed." He didn't need to have Jesus in his house; the Centurion had complete confidence in Christ' ability to heal.
He knew who Jesus was and that his words had power and life. And one word from the Saviour was all that was needed to heal his servant.
What is faith?.. faith is defined in Hebrews 11 as:
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
This is probably one of the best examples of faith in the whole Bible, the Centurion believed in Jesus and his power to heal; he put complete trust in Him.
Faith is not faith if we can see it. Faith is believing God. Consider Abraham. Although Abraham couldn't see how he was going to be the father of nations, he still believed the promise God had made to him.
Do you want to grow in your faith? Let the words of the Centurion echo in your heart…"but speak the word only."
What this means in practical terms, is that God only has to promise it, and you have just to believe in his promise.
God's Word is enough for you believer. Stand on His promises for they cannot fail. Faith is not blind, it is launching out, because you know the One who is in charge is faithful and true…promise-keeping God.
God bless you

HEBREWS 6
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
REMEMBER...THE LORD DOESN'T FORGET:
So many of us serve the Lord joyfully and don't get any praise or credit for it. I know that at times, I have complained long and hard to the Lord, in this fashion, ''Lord look at what I did for you today, I did this and that and no one has even thanked me!"
Have you, like me , said anything like that? This verse is the antidote to that feeling. God sees all our service, whether men see it or not, God sees it and will reward you for it.
The Lord is righteous and he looks down on the work we do, and we will receive a reward. Indeed, the only reward you should seek is the proclamation, 'well done, thy good and faithful servant'.
When we serve our brothers and sisters, we serve God himself, God has given us his love and we show it to the brethren, because we have God's love in our hearts. Freely we have received, and so we should freely give…Amen.
It is our great privilege to serve God and to also serve our brethren. Serving our brethren comes out of our love for God and loving God means we serve our brethren; we follow the example of our Savior in John 13.
In Luke 17, Jesus says these words,
,
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
We only do what we are told to after all. Rewards will be given to us for our service, when we get to heaven. God will not forget our service or labour of love to our brethren, not because of what we do, but because we are actually serving HIM.
Let me give the final words to Matthew Henry:
God is not unrighteous to forget your labour of love, v. 10. Good works and labour proceeding from love to God are commendable; and what is done to any in the name of God shall not go unrewarded. What is done to the saints, as such, God takes as done to himself.
God bless you
