Realizing that a loved one is not in heaven (with you)... ?

I was reading a blog post a while back about heaven and hell a while back. They asked "for those in heaven, will they notice that friends and family are missing?"

Obviously if they are not living and not in heaven then they must be in hell. That makes me wonder how one (in heaven) would feel knowing a loved one was in hell. Would they be able to feel sadness? Would they even be sad at all?

I would love to hear your opinions :)

Who can really say for certain? We know the Lord's words: "Behold, I make all things new." Maybe our thoughts will be new as well without memories of our old relationships or our old sins for that matter.

In addition to that thought there is the distinct possibility that what is taught in religion about Hell is pure fiction and a product of both misunderstanding and misapplication of select scriptures. In the resurrection (not necessarily Heaven), where the saved will be, much is left to the imagination. Maybe those we know as our "family" at that time will be as Jesus once said, those who do the will of The FATHER as opposed to our fleshly lineage.

That is interesting. One person said almost the same as you -- that perhaps somehow our old memory will disappear.

You answer does make me wonder, though, if we have the whole idea of hell right. Perhaps we did interpret it in the wrong way... ?

I would have to know your definition of hell, to answer in full....But for those that do not overcome they will be blotted out, you will not remember them, it will be like they never existed.

Our God is a CONSUMING fire...

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. (Is. 27:8 KJV)

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Rev. 7:17 KJV)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Rev. 21:4 KJV)

It seems that there will be tears for God to wipe away. Maybe some of them will be because of our lost loved ones. But no matter how terrible that thought seems now - and I'm sure it will seem even worse once we're with the Lord - God will be able to wipe every tear from our eyes and turn our mourning into dancing.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

(Ps. 30:11-12 NASB)

Hello - Wiping away teasr would not solve the problem, for a person will cry a long time over loved ones, but notice there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying

This is what the lake of fire does it blots people out of exsistence there is no memory of there exsistence it will be like they never came into being.
